NCAA has no room for LU
With the recent action that the NCAA has taken against the state of North Carolina, is there any doubt that it will do all it can to keep Liberty out of FBS and stand in the way of success when possible based on the schools conservative Christian values?
Or am I way off base?

I think you're cray cray. We just need a invite. If we get one and then the NCAA steps in and says nope you can't move up because you are a Christian school then you'd be on to something.

RE: NCAA has no room for LU
I personally think you're exactly right. liberty, BYU and any other school that holds biblical views on marriage and sexuality will have an uphill battle. Thus is one of the many reasons I believe Liberty's only path to FBS is to go independent and if need be to sue the NCAA. I know there's ramifications if that were to happen, but I don't see a path any other way.

The NCAA, NBA and more bodies taking a stand against discriminatory actions in NC has ZERO to do with LU.
LU has been it's own worst enemy in actions, endorsements and stances with unwise and simply crazy positions.
Attempting to slant and blame others is playing the martyr card.

The issue is, we're not going to get an invite. 5 years from we'll still be having this conversation. The bottom line is progressive thinking presidents will never be comfortable voting Liberty into their conference. The SB was the perfect example.

RE: NCAA has no room for LU
I don't think Liberty is being shunned by the NCAA, at least not yet. However, I think conferences and/or school presidents are probably disregarding Liberty due to their beliefs and views. But, Liberty has things that they really need to improve (and they're working on it) like academic prestige, big money sport results (football, men's basketball, baseball, women's basketball, etc.), fan following, media coverage, etc. Liberty can't change it's location but it's location isn't a negative in my opinion.
I find it highly ironic that a big negative of Liberty is it's online diploma mill perception where Liberty embraces the future of online academics compared to the perception of Liberty's beliefs being considered "living in the past." Quite the contradiction in my opinion.
It is a fear of mine that the NCAA would kick out schools with discriminatory policies which they'd mostly argue that Liberty has some. I hope it would never come to this but there are those who want to see this happen.

Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Oxford—Once Christian?
The demise of former Christian universities should be a lesson to individuals, churches, Christian colleges and universities, and seminaries to stand firm on the Bible’s clear teachings and beware of any doctrine that is not biblically sound.

I was thinking yesterday, is there any like minded school that is currently paying FBS football? I couldn't come up with any. Baylor is what I would consider quasi Christian. BYU probably is like us in regards to student conduct, but certainly not like minded in doctrinal beliefs. Liberty is kinda on an island. I for one hope we never compromise those doctrinal beliefs.

No, there is no other FBS school like LU. We are definitely unique in that way.

I too hope Liberty never compromises their doctrinal beliefs. Non-alumni may not understand but it's what gives Liberty their identity. If Liberty gave that up then they'd be just another school with nothing unique so why cheer for them or attend there rather than James Madison, Richmond, VCU, or wherever? There are things bigger than sports.

I hold true to my belief the reason liberty is not FBS has NOTHING to do with your doctrinal beliefs and partly to do with gaffe prone JFjr and his overly public political entanglements. Conferences want schools that don't embarass them in public and harm the public perception of their conference.
The other part is that LU and continue to strengthen its academics so it can join a conference like C-USA not sun belt. LU academics are almost on par with Old Dominion. Also your minority enrollment is quite good. .

I would agree with this for the most part. I think Liberty being a private school, having a strong online program, and having Jerry Falwell, Sr. as former president is the most harmful characteristics. Conferences are afraid of what is different, just like people. Liberty isn't the same as other schools for better or for worse.

Jesus said that the world would hate us because of Him.
I hope Liberty continues to fight the good fight. I am firmly in your corner.
It is not progressive to deny Liberty's values, but the hypocrisy doesn't bother them. Persecution is allowed to occur to Christians.

If you look back at the past 2-3 years I believe you can see a change Jerry Jr went through after being denied entry into the Sun Belt. For a number of years Jr was fairly non political and concentrated on internal Liberty issues. After being rejected by the Sun Belt for schools like Coastal and even EKU was ahead of us, I think you can see Jr basically say it doesn't matter either way so let's be who we are. A second possibility is Jr feels FBS isn't as important as other issues. I believe the next president picking 3-4 supreme Court justices is way morev important than what conference Liberty plays in or at what level we play. Same for the second amendment. Do I want to move up to FBS? Absolutely. But not if that means we get a watered down Liberty.

The question goes back to is LU a university or JFjr's soapbox? This has nothing to do with LU's mission, statement of beliefs or core values.
Does he want to be a politician or President of a major university? I dont think you can do both. I think the students of LU want him to be president of the university and I think as President of LU hes done a great job.

Voss, that's a great statement. I wish he would get back to what he says was his goal a few years back, that was to educate young people.

Agree 100% with one clarification. He did a great job representing the school initially. But the enticement that Jr. JFJr. has experienced the past 12 months in attempting to be a player in the political arena appeals to his ego for acknowledgement and inclusion. It does zero to benefit LU.

Pretty sure El Presidente Elect Trump's first act in office will be to move Liberty up to FBS and make a push for them to join the ACC in gratitude for Jerry Jr.'s support. Don't doubt it for a second.
