Big 12 Expansion Thread - Reboot
Since the other expansion thread has more glitches than the launch of Windows XP, figured I'd start a new thread. Ran across this very non-substantive column by Stewart Mandel on FoxSports this morning. Absolutely nothing newsworthy in it...just a different take.

All 18 Big 12 expansion candidates seeded in the ultimate realignment bracket

RE: Big 12 Expansion Thread - Reboot
It's amazing how these writers all downplay & criticize the candidates for the B12 yet never subject the also rans already within the P5 conferences to such ratings in comparison. Where would Indiana, Purdue, Kansas, Vandy, NC St, Wake Forest, BC, Syracuse, Rutgers, Minnesota, Cal, ASU, WSU and others stack up against even the top several AAC schools. Point is they wouldn't but the nat'l media ignores that comparison because of the facade being current P5 members provides. And this academics argument is just another means to demean. If they want academics, quit splitting hairs, go push the Ivy League if they want some real academic strength.

I would agree with you regarding academics if athletic director's were the ones making the decision on expansion. However, since it's the university presidents making the decision, I think academics will probably be a factor. How much of a factor, I have no idea.

My source tells me that the B12 is going 16... They want to be the first super conference. UM/UC/BYU/CSU/UNLV/ARKst

Bank on it.
