RE: Week 1 at Wyoming Predictions
Come on guys, establishing a spread on this game is very difficult. A line of 10 seems fair for those that are not as fanatic as us. Assuming Hare will be healthy and 10 months of rust to shake off, this team will show up and dominate. The majority of their board is betting heavy, and I can't blame them after our last game. But we know how good this team can be. Through my kool aid glasses I see Kane having the dogs ready on D and our offense improving each series. I'm all in. Huskies by 20, and the game won't feel that close.

I sure hope you are right. I have confidence in our players and in our coaches, although with two new coordinators I am really hopeful that Coach U is a significant upgrade. I've always loved Coach Kane. Overall, I just don't want to take Wyoming for granted. I've sat through too many nail biters when we should have rolled. I can't wait to get this settled on the field. I hope we do take care of business and go down to USF with something to prove against a good AAC team.

If we can't beat a team that went 2-10 last season then we will likely end up with only two or three wins ourselves.

You were far more modest on the Wyoming board than I would have been. Nobody here is talking about us going to the big12 and a spread of 8-10 is not much for a bottom feeder team like them. They talk is if their season is over if we beat them. Seriously, that's lack of respect to be expected and warranted from a P5, not from one of the worst g5s. A) we will physically dominate them. B) their season will be far from over.

That's what concerns me. Especially first game of the season.
We best control the ball on O or our D will be gassed.

We rotate lineman as much as anyone. Yes we have some depth. This team also seems to be training harder than ever this summer. Just my perception, but one more reason not to over react to the environment.

This is over hyped. If this was really relevant Wyoming's home win % would be far greater than their road win % in relation to what other schools have. It's not. Since 2003, they have 23% better win rate at home. NIU's 20%. Ut.st is 22%, ohio 24%, Nevada 24%... it's no real advantage.

I think that had more to do w Army running the option, which is very hard to prepare since you don't see it often, than being on the road
I mean we did beat EMU 73-3 or something like that on the road one year. Just sayin...haha

Road games are tougher. Ask most of visiting teams to Huskie Stadium over the last several years.

Well, there were a couple whispers about being in the Chicago market and thus being an outside candidate for Big 12. I just pointed out to them that almost all the talk was about a possibility of going to the AAC due to Big 12 grabbing a few teams. I think many of them do underestimate us based on the Boise game. I don't think they even know that was our backup QB, coming off an injury, playing in that game. Of course, that doesn't explain the complete lack of defense, though of course Wyoming offense <> Boise offense.

Well, no one on this board (that I recall) every said they thought we had a realistic shot at the Big12 so their board made quite the leap to "we're all in lala land and think we have a shot". Regardless, the season can't start soon enough for all of us and this other fluff means nothing. I'm glad you went in peace...

I've Got:
NIU - 35
Wyoming - 14
If Drew is as healthy as they say he is NIU should walk over this opponent. I don't care how improved they may be from last season, this is a bad football team we are playing. It may take a quarter to get going, but I expect NIU to take it to them starting in the 2nd quarter and especially in the second half. Though if they are adjusted to the altitude well enough, hopefully it's a laugher from the start. Let's go!
I don't know, Dog Pound, I don't like this spot for NIU. We open the season in high altitude, with new coordinators and new systems, against a team returning a lot of young starters.
Wyoming has a fantastic running back, a good quarterback, and a highly regarded head coach. They are much better than that two win team last season. We also have not fared well with both going out west and playing MWC teams.
If this game were in DeKalb, I would like the Huskies by a comfortable margin. But it's not.

Wyoming was 105th in offense. 106th passing offense, 116th in points scored.
102 in total defense, 113th vs. the run, 102 in points allowed.
They gave up 48 to EMU.
Unless they got a LOT better, a LOT of new players I don't see NIU losing this game by 14 pts, being limited to 17 unless they are down to their 3rd string QB.
I see NIU is -10. If you see this as a 14pt for Wyoming, I sure hope you can get a ML on Wyoming and bet them straight and wheel. Maybe even get a casino to give you an alt line on them.

I never bet against my own team.
You're probably right, NIU will smoke Wyoming. I just have a gut feeling that this isn't going to go well for the Huskies.
I've watched Wyoming play. I think it's fair to say that I'm one of the few on this board that actually have. I believe they are better than those numbers suggest. More significantly, though, is my lack of confidence with NIU traveling out to these parts. We BARELY got by a lousy Idaho team when we had a much stronger team than we do now. We did poorly against Utah State. We almost let a terrible UNLV team come back and beat us. Then there was that Boise State debacle.
Let me have it if I'm dead wrong and NIU comes out firing on all cylinders. It's not often that I think the Huskies are going to take one on the chin. I'll happily take the snarky comments along with the victory.

I've watched them too that's why I said I was not going to be over confident. They might have up to 16 or 17 returning starters. Playing out west and late at night concerns me too. I hope whatever Coach Carey plans for the late start works. Kicking off at 9:30 pm when you're used to being up at 6 am makes for a long day. With that said I think we win. Hopefully a big win but I'll take a W any way we can get it.
