RE: First Coaches Poll - Week 1
Tennessee being ranked 10th is laughable. They haven't beaten anyone in forever.

South Florida will win the East this season though.

I'm just happy to get votes. It took us a few weeks to even receive votes last year despite ending 2014 as a ranked team.

Didn't Navy lose their QB who knew how to run the triple option to perfection? that is not easy to replace

No it's not. They return ALL 11 on offense and 9 on defense from a 9-4 team that was leading OU deep in the 4th quarter, lost to UF on a crazy play at the end of the game, lost to Arkansas by 4, and was leading Bama (at Bama) with 2 minutes to go in the game.

Basically, if they learn how to close out games last year they are playing in the SEC title game for a chance to go to the national title game.

Yep, and they lost 10 in total from the offense.

They aren't "worthless" because the initial poll sets the narrative for "good" wins early in the season. Teams can lose a few games early and still remain ranked or teams that are unranked can drop an early game (even close) and not sniff the top 25 for weeks.

I really wish all polls would wait for four weeks until they were released.

These coaches voting are too busy to spend time researching the changes made in teams and what to expect them to preform coming into the season. I'm surprised to see Baylor at 21. They have lost a few starters on offense but their defense is still strong.

I believe that is what the Harris Poll tried to do.

Yeah, but they basically just let the AP and USA today poll do all the heavy lifting and parroted them with minor tweaks.

He gets a vote, so possible. Houston, Tulsa and Cincy also get votes. Freeze does not get a vote.

Norvell gets a vote.

Ole Miss surprises me. Losing Nkimdeche's, Tunsil, and Treadwell are pretty big losses. I know Kelly is back at qb, but OM wasn't nearly the team w/o Robert and Tunsil on the field.

Ohio State lost so much. I guess they think Urban is a miracle worker. Should be 15-20.

LSU is another. In the last 8 seasons they have outperformed their preseason ranking only twice. In 6 of the last 8 seasons they have finished 14th or worse (twice unranked).

I think Louisville is criminally under rated. They bring back 10 starters on offense and 9 on defense from a 8-5 team that lost their first 3 when breaking in a frosh qb. It will be interesting because they get FSU in game 3 and Clemson in game 5.

Houston returns a lot on offense. Lost some on defense but damn that offense is good.

Going for an early season pat on the back.

Shouldn't the early, self-congratulations require you getting all your predictions right? Early season observations say you missed on Ohio State and UTK. So you got like 4 out of 6 correct. D grade?
