Curiosity wise have construction started on the Hotel yet? And where exactly will it be located.

Have not been to that end of town in a long while so I am unfamiliar with the area.

Thanks.

Here ya go:

EDIT: And no, the construction of the hotel and conference center have not started yet...the garage is nearing competition, and the renovation of the old RMH Cancer Ctr. is well underway. Logistically, I would think the Cancer Ctr. renovation needs to get out of the way prior to the start of the hotel and conference center construction.

Construction supposed to start this summer. All my sources keep telling me the hotel will be open for business in fall of 2017. I would like some of whatever they're drinking though because unless they are building around the clock - that ain't happening. There's a lot of site work, utility moves, and road construction that needs to take place too.

That ASU project looks like a run-down Motel 6. In other words a dump and a far cry from what the Hotel Madison will look and feel like with a major conference center and 1000 car parking deck attached.

It was good when it was built in the early 70s, but it's been closed for three or four years. If we ever build another building of this type, I'm sure it will be nice, like the Hotel Madison, but for now we will reduce this one to a pile of rubble after the fermentation sciences department moves out.

Deez, are these the same sources you get athletic information from? If yes, they may be drinking shine with purple food coloring added...

another reason why a 7 figure donor wouldn't withhold a gift only because of Jon Alger.

Why wouldn't a 7 figure donor withhold a gift if he/she strongly disagrees with the leadership direction of a University that they hold dear to the heart??

RE: New Convo- Harrisonburg Civic Center
regardless of the scandal...great design that actually integrates the east and west campuses...more of that could go a long way.

some modern interpretation of bluestone / columns / Spanish tile , (or some classic forms), would really help the east side.

we don't have money lying around for coa...but would love an architectural unity overhaul. unfortunately, there is now another style to deal with in the cancer center and the new dorms. white panelling and bluestone is good...but there seem to be random brick sections sticking out at the old hospital ... there will be a cool colonnade at the cancer center ...but why? and it has zero relation to the building

mini rant...off

the look is a big part of the feel...and the feel of jmu us amazing at times. sometimes we are a good bit off on that one, but for this one it's spot on.

new gibbons is cool..seems bluestone is expanding its footprint...props to Alger on that

Local H'Burg sports reporter continued his TV interview with JB, who shared JMU has 7 of the $12 million it wants before breaking ground on the new arena. JB states corporate naming sponsors have lagged behind anticipated timelines, but expects to reach the fundraising goal by the Fall.

That's awesome Longhorn. I didn't honestly expect fundraising to be that far advanced. Naming rights seem like it would be relatively easy to resolve once businesses see that the project is really moving forward.

Duke club staff anticipated closing some more deals within a month to move that number to 8/9 Million. We're getting close.

The 8-9 million number is the latest number I had heard

Interesting. JB plainly says in the TV interview 7 million has been raised, so we're left to guess whose numbers are real. In most situations I'd say a report from a respected journalist would be more accurate, but I neither trust nor respect the DNR. Perhaps it's 5.8 mil in-hand, and 7 pledged? Whatever the case, let's get this project built ASAP!

Probably like you said, soft commitment on the extra $1.2mil.
