It amazes me how many sports teams employ someone in that capacity. The Rice WBB team brought one in mid-season and saw a dramatic turn-around. Of course , we don't need that kind of assist for BB.

How about a sports psychologist for the fans? We need it more than they do.

If in fact the umpires said something to Coach Graham the next day about "screwing up the call", I have to believe it was along the lines of "We're sorry we didn't signal double right away, and we apologize for any confusion caused by our delay in making the call." Which is certainly a fair comment for them to offer -- quite professional, really.
It is inconceivable that the umpires said to Graham, "You know, it really was a home run after all." Nor does there seem to be any genuine controversy about the call ultimately made -- that it was NOT a home run.

No, George. It was most definitely a HR-- at least from what I saw on the video feed.

I was conveying what JP Heath said. Too bad there is no Coach's Show tonight to shed some light. It's of little consequence anyway.

Here's what the Monroe paper says, which is not very conclusive:
Quote:There were several shifts of momentum during Friday's marathon but none bigger than a disputed call that took two runs off the board for Rice.
Rice's Connor Teykl launched a towering fly ball off Harris in the 15th that umpires initially ruled as a three-run home run to put Rice up 5-2. On first glance, the ball appeared to bounce off the new artificial turf at J.C. Love field and bounce over the right-center field wall. Goff quickly made his way on to the field to argue the call, and after a brief huddle, the umpires determined the ball bounced over the fence for a ground rule double, giving Rice a 3-2 lead.
Rice didn't argue the call much, which served as a telling sign since the Owls' dugout has the best look at it from the first-base line. The Owls' runners were brought back onto the field, and Harris retired the side to escape further damage. If the call stood, Tech likely doesn't win the game.

On what video could you discern that? It was too far away from the camera which wasn't all that great to begin with.
