We desperately need a win today for obvious reasons. If we don't win today, we will need to win a few tournament games to even get into the field of 64.

It appears that USM will lose again today as they are currently down 12-5.

It also looks like Marshall is going to lose to ODU, as they are down 5-2 in the 6th and are in a rain delay.

UAB is leading Charlotte in the 6th in a game that will determine the 8th seed.

Thus, IF we win today (and it's a big if) and the results above hold, we would land in the much weaker side of the bracket.

The groupings would settle as follows:

Marshall
Rice
ODU
FIU

FAU
USM
LA Tech
UAB

This just underscores the need for a win. I have some confidence in our team to win a couple games against Marshall, ODU, and FIU (as we are 6-0 against them). Not so much against the others as we are 4-6.

Go Owls!
01-wingedeagle Looks to me like we'll end up in 4th place win or lose in the bracket with 1,8 and 5, whoever that might be. 01-wingedeagle
May end up in 3rd if SMU loses....

Did you even bother reading my post?

It is now the top of the 8th in the USM game and they are down by 8 runs.
So the umpires told WG that they screwed up the call (double instead of HR) that would have give Rice the win. What is the point in even telling a coach that?
And now the LaTech announcer is complaining about the umpiring?! That's actually kind of funny.
2-0 Owls going to B2. RBI singles by Hunter and Charlie.
ODU beats Marshall.

Win this one and we are the three seed with our pod of the tourney being Marshall, ODU, and FIU.

That is the real easy side. Completely unbalanced but good for Owls.

Am I watching little leaguers with all the errant throws?
Ending the season the way they began it. Not good.
3-2, the suddenly unbeatable La Tech team ahead.

Lewis just saved the game.
4-2 and LA Tech still batting in the third.

Same reason the NBA does their weird review-that-doesnt-count thing?

now B4. LaTech with a man on second.

So, he hit it over the fence but the umpires just assumed that it bounced over? Or was something else going on?

To provide an official reason for this umpiring crew not to be invited to the conference tournament (before the league office reviews the other stuff?)
5-2. LaTech with men on the corners.

This is what GT says.

Washam, Jon. reached on a fielding error by SS (0-0); Washam, Jor. advanced to third.
Washam, Jor. singled through the right side, RBI, advanced to second on a throwing error by 2B (0-0); Diaz scored.

Did we really just commit 2 errors, one to score and one to advance the runners?
Four errors on Rice. It's like we don't want to win.
