The schedules they play just aren't even comparable. If your ECU last year your playing @Navy, @UF,@BYU,@UConn. Compared to App for example who is playing ODU, Wyoming, Georgia State, Idaho, South Alabama etc. Or WMU whos playing Murray State,CMU, Ball State, Eastern Michigan etc.
Just need the conference to keep showing up in OOC and get more respect I guess.
you have an unrealistic view of the world we live in.
I don't agree with the "any AAC team" comment simply because that doesn't allow for occasional poor performance years that all programs suffer; but do agree that most AAC programs should consistently be ranked ahead of that majority of the programs he listed.
he uses the classic argument of Team A is better than Team B because Team A plays (lists toughest teams on schedule) but Team B plays (lists weakest teams on schedule).
For instance, he justifies ECU (his favorite team) as being better than WMU (a MAC team) by cherry picking their schedules from last year like this-
ECU- Navy, BYU, UF, UConn
WMU- Murray St, CMU, Ball St, Eastern Michigan
now let me try that, using the same two teams-
ECU- Towson, UCF, SMU, UConn
WMU- Michigan, Ohio State, Toledo, Bowling Green
see how easy that is? WMU also scored a win over a ranked team last year, something ECU failed to do.
That's fine, you have your opinion, I have mine. Go ahead and list out the complete schedule for each team and see which one is better since my argument wasn't fair, that would make the case even more. You can even take ECU out of the argument, we were bad last year I know that. How about Cincy, Memphis, Temple?
ECU also beat a P5 team last year in a year where we were horrible, something WMU failed to do.
your right, WMU failed to beat at #6 Michigan State and #4 Ohio State but ECU beat VaTech so ECU is obviously superior.
How about Cinci, Memphis and Temple? Cinci beat Miami(3-9) by 3pts, Memphis beat BGSU by 3pts and Temple beat UMass(3-9) by 2pts. I don't see this great, huge divide that is supposed to be so obvious. Sorry.
