Posts like this are a prime example on why people lose interest on posting here. Same 2 or 3 people posting the same drivel ad nauseum.

Just being objective. Isn't that a reason people would stay away if there was this kool aid drinking plugging my ears to the rest of the world mentality. This team and program is regressing now under coach Carey I would love to get my Pom poms and say everything is ok and lie about it but any level headed person can see this thing is going in the wrong direction

Someone needs a hug.

Kind of like how you cannot accept that the AAC is a better football conference than the MAC, and that it is universally accepted in every computer ranking/human perception, even on a MAC forum.

Your negative posts are probably part of the reason why a lot of people have stopped posting here. This is supposed to be a place for us NIU fans to discuss athletics in a positive aspect and not to down it every chance you get.

I would guess it's not so much the posts that are less than optimistic, but the criticism of other people's posts. IF there's actually a problem rather than this just being a slow period.

But that doesn't fit his narrative!

I just changed shifts at work and have a lot of other options to get my entertainment these days. Spring practice just doesn't do much for me.

Yeah, but too much of that "entertainment" can callus your hands and make you go blind.

I disagree with your comment. I believe most people like to debate topics, and MadDawgz02 certainly provides plenty of fodder to get folks blood boiling.

If everything is sunshine and happy thoughts, this message board would become dull. It's useful to have "villains", so to speak. That said, what does turn prospective community members off is the personal attacks. There is a difference between when a poster has his opinion shredded by the masses and when the poster is shredded because of that opinion. Sadly, that gets blurred far too often.

Great points Vegas. I don't know why difference in opinions automatically translates to personal attacks. I have learned one thing, never a good idea to compliment the MAC on these boards. I've never seen such disproportionate anger develop over just giving credit to a conference

Opinions posted by "Villains" end up getting attacked personally as the result of one or more of the following:
- contradicting their earlier position
- consistent negative attitude
- concepts being far outside the generally accepted facts
- personal attacks on players/coaches of whom you don't actually know.

The board is open for all opinions, but you may open yourself up for some opinions from others you don't like. As long as it's cordial and constructive....I say let the fists fly.

Vegas hit the nail on the head. The attacks DO get personal. And the are too often NOT "cordial". I too have been off the board because I can't take the beating up on people. I can promise you that the people who don't post anything but just read are intimidated by the bullies on the board. Yes, I said bullies.
I've said this before so it's nothing new. I would also like to add that while I believe all opinions are welcome, even I get overwhelmed with the pessimism shown by MD and therefore I beg him to PLEASE try to stop & think about that before he types & posts. Consider that constructive criticism. We have to "police" ourselves & make an effort not to attack each other. Even act like civilized adults, perhaps?

That all said - it's the offseason. It's always slow now.
