it appears that interest is waning. In the middle of spring practice and no eye witness reports to speak of. Participation seems to be limited to less than 10 posters. Has this form of communication coming to an end, has the tone at times kept people away?

I'm sure the board will get going again come August or so. It seems to be like this every year around this time. The Spring game and such is only intriguing to us die hard fans.

There is a very natural bell shaped curve to any message board and I imagine that csnbbs is on the natural downslope of that curve. Whether that downslope is by design or by lack of interest/investment from the ownership is not known, at least by me.

If you look closely at top of the main page and see the numbers of user browsing, and especially the number of "guests" who are only reading, then there is a unrealized population of new posters. But there is a cadre here of vocal posters who have been around for ages and that can be intimidating to new users.

Here are some smart ideas for posting on message boards:

1) Does This Argument Need To Happen?
--a) Are you posturing for dominance?

2) Focus on the Debate, Not The Debator
--a) Arguments are about changing minds; fights are about dominance

3) Debate The Real Opinion, Not The One In Your Head
--a) Learn to recognize and exclude strawmen

4) Want Respect? Participate In The Community (Without Arguing)
--a) Communities are built on relationships, and you have a history

5) Silence Isn’t The Same As Winning
--a) You aren't guaranteed an audience to you message or a response to your inquiry.

None of the above is required, they are just good ideas.

Also, it's tough for anyone to get out there with most of the practices taking place on weekdays this year.

I was going to go to Fridays scrimmage but it was at 630 am.

I decided to take a break from posting on the board after the way the football season ended. This place got real stupid, real fast. I still visit everyday, but I try not to post unless there is a good discussion going on.

If someone gets ridiculed for one of their posts, it probably doesn't come across too well for lurkers who might have posted but decided it wasn't worth being ridiculed. I don't know for sure if that has happened but I'd be surprised if it wasn't an issue.

Hey the Red Dog is still here! Just not much to read/post about… I check in almost daily to see if there are any spring ball posts/articles. I believe it’s just that time of the year…

I suggest threads be run by two separate groups. Those with over 5,0000 posts. Those are your power posters(PP). And those with less than 5k posts. Those are your Group of other posters(GP). The PP will get all the attention and the GP will be slighted and disrespected.

I feel like this topic comes up every year. Not everyone posts, some just come here for information. I for one don't post a lot, but visit this board often for updates. I'm sure there's more out there like myself.

I accept my G5 standing. I just don't want to be considered a MAC equivalent. I already know I am above Sun-Belt. I'll settle for AAC.
