Not enough revenue addition to justify the further division of the pie maybe?
The division of the pie would be almost nothing to the rest of the league because they wouldn't get football share of TV. Talking maybe $50K per team and if they get NCAA credits that number becomes accretive plus we would have the extra good basketball inventory for the next tv negotiation in a few years. It doesn't make sense why we don't add them.
1. All due respect don't see Marshall leaving knowing you will have 2 Top 10 jobs opening up within IMO 1-2 years if not sooner at UNC & Louisville.
2. You're not going to outbid Wichita State....Remember they are backed by the Koch Brothers and they love Gregg Marshall....in case you didn't know the Koch Brothers are worth minimum $40 Billion and as high as $80 Billion...At this point Memphis/Wichita same program...2 very good programs that can make Final Four runs.
But Memphis has to make the phone call...you do your due diligence
On #2, Bloomberg estimates the Koch Brothers net worth at $99.6 Billion. Koch industries as a whole is supposed to be worth $115 Billion. Each brother splits the net individually, so each has a net worth of about $49 Billion apiece.

Well since no one is gonna pay 99.6 billion for a coach having a couple of guys worth 5 to 10 billion involved in this search should be fine.
Besides, we got WalMart money....Bill Laurie is involved in the search. If him and Mike Rose and Brad Martin want to pay 10 mil a year for a coach theyll do it.

He turned down Pitt so I doubt he would leave for Memphis. You can argue better job at Memhpis but right now he is guaranteed a trip to March madness with how he built Dayton.

Who didn't turn down Pitt?
Pitt and Memphis are two completely different jobs with different sets of positives and negatives. Blue chip talent goes to both schools.

Awesome. ..got 1 more on board. I really don't care about hybrid vs non hybrid league. Put the best product out there and we are gold (maybe aluminum). Getting 3 quality teams added increases the quality tv inventory too.
I'm not real crazy about VCU but if they can help improve AAC's basketball side I guess I can learn to accept them in time.

Because our guys are smart. They saved about $9million. Thats why they have money, because they are very good with it.

I think that the Shockers are adding football, but your point is absolutely worthwhile. If money was no object and they will pay anything WSU wants; football would have been a Shocker sport long ago. Marshall could very well decide to stay at WSU and I would fully understand it; but blind homer fans (of WSU, Memphis, or any other program) just get in the way of intelligent, fact based, meaningful conversation ................................................................................................................................................................................................................so they belong on the internet. :)

I believe it was his brother Sean that turned down Pitt. He was the one rumored to have been in Pittsburgh. Arizona is one of the top jobs in the PAC. Did Archie turn them down to, possibly.
Archie may have a great chance at making March Madness at Dayton but he would have a great chance to go deep into March Madness at Memphis.

Since there is a limit of a few million per year for a coach's salary and perks, it really doesn't matter if your boosters have a net worth of $100B, or $4B.

He turned down Pitt so I doubt he would leave for Memphis. You can argue better job at Memhpis but right now he is guaranteed a trip to March madness with how he built Dayton.
Archie is what we wanted Pastner to be...young, energetic, a good recruiter, but he's proven he can take his team to the Elite Eight, and win NCAA games...plus, he's not afraid to say four letter words, or drink a cup of coffee.

RE: Memphis after Wichita State's Gregg Marshall (SportingNews article)
I just googled it--Pitt sent out feelers to SEAN Miller, trying to get him from Arizona. Apparently Pitt's AD had a double helping of Self-Esteem Flakes that day.
I was about to say that turning down Pitt does not mean you will turn down Memphis, *at all.* But Archie Miller didn't turn down Pitt. Dayton's a good program, with great support, but it's not Memphis.

115 billion and no football team?
I think that the Shockers are adding football, but your point is absolutely worthwhile. If money was no object and they will pay anything WSU wants; football would have been a Shocker sport long ago. Marshall could very well decide to stay at WSU and I would fully understand it; but blind homer fans (of WSU, Memphis, or any other program) just get in the way of intelligent, fact based, meaningful conversation ................................................................................................................................................................................................................so they belong on the internet. :)
This is the first University President we've had since football was disbanded who has been serious about bringing it back. Our previous president wouldn't even discuss it or do any studies. He wanted nothing to do with it. It sounds like Charles and other big money donors are behind the school as a whole and are willing to invest.

Right. That confirms my initial comment that the Shockers
are indeed adding football. Good to have you back among full
athletic programs. Your students, university, and city will
benefit greatly.

have Nova and WSU both upgrade to FBS football and we'll take em both
if temple has a problem with the nova add, they can exit stage left
