RE: THE BIG EAST!!!...
For a conference to lose three Hall of Fame coaches in the past few years (one to retirement/AAC and two to the ACC), the Big East is still humming along. It's record vs the AAC, A-10 and the five major football conferences this year is now 45-24.

Hey, they might be as well if they started offering classes out of the African and Afro-American Studies department.
Didn't need that major to beat Georgetown for the title.
True, going to need to move that title up in the trophy case when 2005 and 2009 are taken because of sancations

People that have been a part of the Big East will always want to see them do good. Even if and when a P5 split were ever to occur, most likely the Big East will be among Them as a Basketball conference along side the P5 Football conferences

I think every fan of schools from the Big East past and present ,where ever they are now, misses the OBE.

RE: THE BIG EAST!!!...
Yes, I miss the Old Big East, and as a UConn fan, I miss playing Providence, St John's, Villanova, and G'town. But the new BE only holds interest for me in playing those 4 teams (UConn already plays G'town, will soon play Villanova, and hopefully can schedule Providence and St John's soon). The BE tourney too is not the same. I went to that thing every year from 1990 to 2011, and so I had a good feel for the fanbases that represented. Other than G'town, no one else is left. UConn, Syracuse and Pitt had the biggest chunk of fans.
If UConn can somehow schedule 2 of the 4 listed above each year, it will be a good thing. UConn also has a rivalry developing with Cincinnati. Hopefully, they can keep that game going, because UConn has been involved in wars with them the last 5 years. You might even say that game is more special right now for UConn than games against 3 of the other 4 would be.

Congrats to Nova. Well deserved championship. Jay Wright is one of the good guys in the sport and I am happy to see him get one under his belt. Welcome to the Multi-National Championship Club!

Only the couple of butt-hurt fans of AAC conference teams who wanted to but never got to play BE ball.
The BE is dead. The NBE is not the conference those "butt-hurt" fans wanted to join. For the most part, the incoming schools were thinking football first. However, UConns Championship and the growth of the SMU program have energized the conference. Greater exposure has been key and the new forward-thinking leadership has made significant investments in the sport that are paying off.

The BE is dead? Well what the hell did I see last night? Oh that's right a BIG EAST team winning the National Title.
The Big East is alive and well- no matter what the hell you think. If either of the conferences is dead, it's the AAC that is dead.

No matter what kind of promos NBE honchos throw together, it's a brand new conference. It's not the conference Dave Gavitt put together.
It's
Some similar ingredients.. totally different aftertaste. It's a BE/A10/CUSA (and whatever conference Creighton is from) hybrid.
Not that there is anything wrong with that... but just don't misrepresent. You bought the branding.

RE: THE BIG EAST!!!...
I just want to know in what category the AAC would be ahead of the NBE.
titles- 1-1
FF- 1-1
S16 by teams in the league currently- BE 2 AAC 1
tourney bids by teams in the league currently- BE 15 AAC 9
tourney wins by teams in the league currently- BE 16 AAC 9
Look, I want the AAC to do well- but the AAC just isn't as good as the Big East is right now. That's just the bottom line

Same championship pedigree. And better than your AAC. Wake me up when your conference wins more than 2 tourney games in 2 years.

Are you actually claiming UConn's pedigree for the NBE?
You're out of touch. It's a small catholic league. It's not the Big City Conference that people identified with.

Enthusiasm aside, you're comparing apples to oranges. The AAC is first and foremost a football conference that also can play basketball. The new and relabeled BE is strictly basketball. Each conference has a different set of agendas, and those agendas do not overlap.
As for me, I'm happy for the Cats. They played great, and earned all plaudits thrown their way. Congrats to them and the new BE.

The AAC is an all-sports conference. It brought in programs on the basis of a much broader criteria. Larger enrollments. Branding that transcended just basketball.
With that different model came an investment to build programs, like an SMU. The AAC didn't just go out and grab a program based on current success, or invite a school that had 1 more year of eligibility with the greatest player in their history.
It was the long game. The AAC was playing par 5 and the NBE was playing Par 3.
