I have confidence the Model 3 will be a huge success, but I have little confidence it will actually come out in 2017. Tesla has a history of missing deadlines.

Maybe after 3 car launches they have figured it out though. I read that the Model 3 is basically production ready now. Last night wasn't a prototype, it was essentially the ready to manufacture product. Maybe they'll make some small tweaks, but it doesn't seem like they'll be making any major changes.

It won't bother me if it misses the deadline. I'm in no rush. I'm confident if it is delayed it won't be by much. And when it comes to a car my family and I will be driving, I'd prefer they take all the time they need. I don't want first launch glitches because they tried to rush the product.

one of the biggest projects in Memphis history is getting rid of our 1950s era 'dirty' coal plat, that pollutes Lake McKellar...and replacing it with a 900 million dollar TVA Natural Gas Plant that's over 30% more efficient, and doesn't pollute near as much.

To get the charge time down, you would need something in the 50amp size. 50 amp wire is really expensive, so it helps to keep the wire run as short as possible. In other words, the further away from your panel the wire has to be run for the outlet, the more expensive its going to be. #6 50 amp 2 conductor wire will run about $1.50 per foot.

yep, it's a 3 prong 30 amp...if you back the car into the garage, it would be within 10 feet of the plug...he figured he could just use this to adapt the plug

If thats the case, I'd probably see what the highest amp charger was available, and wire it for that bad boy. I dont know if they make a 60 amp charger or not, but that would probably be sweet if they did. You wouldnt regret the small amount of extra expense, since your run is so short.

I'm pretty sure i read that the standard Tesla S power plant (they have an upgrade as well for more distance range) is 12 hours on a 30 amp. So yea, it would work, but charging for that amount of time would get old real quick. And if you dont fully charge every time, you wlil get to the point where the batteries constantly drain below 50%, and the battery life will be greatly reduced. And those batteries will set you back some coinage.

Electric cars are pretty much an inevitability at this point. They'll start offering things like that as upgrades and they'll probably eventually be standard, just like USB plugins for cell phone charging are now pretty much standard in new home construction.
