RE: Shaq talks w/ Jason Smith - very revealing ...
I tried to tell you’ll 4 years ago Josh was playing mind games with these kids. He screwed with Spoon, Hall, Tarik, Joe, Pookie, Iverson, Big Dom, Wilson, and even Shaq who manned-up and finished his commitment when he didn’t have to. Burrell is his latest victim and fans were questioning his attitude (dropping head) saying he should grow up. Really? BS. ^^^ALL of the players above dropped their heads as in deep prayer, remember?
While many on this board were trying to portray Pastner as a Walton’s John boy some of us including me questioned this. A head coach who can’t resolve simple differences with multiple players HE recruited? He’s a narcissist who wishes to be Cesar, Napoleon, or in other words…Emperor. Crazy.
Sadly the powers gave him a contract to do just that.

I wish we were on a roll but if we are going to get there, we need to help all we can imo. Anybody can cheer on a 30 win team. Josh may not be the solution to get us where we want to be but maybe with some help from us he can focus less on fan pressures and more on the program. Same thing with our players. I'm discouraged Josh may be so dictatorial, as he apparently lacks the ability to put the pieces together in a complimentary form, but hope he will get there. We are stuck with him, maybe we can help him and our players right this ship. Maybe not, but there is no sense in buying the program alive, let's try and heal as much as possible. Thanks guys, I hope this makes sense, it's not a plea for Pastner as much as it is for our program. Those who are hurting and angry, I get it, I really do and I appreciate your passion. It's sad, especially after being on top to seemingly fall so far but if we keep what we have and reel in some team players, we can have a good season next season. Lawson is very, very talented.
Thoughtful post.
That said, screw that. The university doesn't deserve my support if they won't fix the obvious problem. This is a mutual relationship.
Politicians only care about your money or your vote. When you blindly support hem they'll just ignore you
Exactly right. This is a mutual relationship. When they show they care about us and want us to support the team, they will get rid of Josh.

So apparently, it's impossible to even talk to Pastner. You can't even communicate with the man.

Seems like it was always gonna be a bad fit or hard fit for this guy to run our program and it seems like over time its wound up being an awful fit...its what its turning out to be.

Excellent post BealeStreet. He messed with Angel Garcia too. He sucks, plain and simple. It's more than him not being worth a crap as a coach. It's about he's terrible at relationships. He's terrible at managing his guys. I would t send my sons to play for him,, even for big money. Why? Because I care about my sons and would not want to put them through the day to day torture of Josh. He's not the nice guy lots of people wanted everyone to believe.

I remember getting blasted for letting him have it when he was on his flip phone calling recruits while his wife was in labor at the hospital.
That's all I needed to know.

Precisely. Anybody with an IQ high enough to get out of the rain has known for years that Pastner was a @#$# idiot. The fact that the University just expects us to blindly support this BS is insulting. People are going to be shocked at the disastrous affect this has long-term on the ever-dwindling fan base.

Very telling. This is an underhanded compliment if there ever was one. In the entire article he never says he respected him as a coach, but does respect him as a businessman??
I respect him as a businessman as well. There aren't very many people who could be that incompetent and still bilk their employee for $10 million. He is quite the salesman.

The only thing he said without reservation was that the fans sucked, and probably had something to do with most of the problems surrounding the whole thing.

Yeah because he was scared to death to say anything derogatory about your wonderboy for fear of not getting a shot at the NBA.
Of course with your head so far up Pastner's ass you probably need a reading light to see what he actually said.

I reluctantly posted a couple days ago NO Memphis area recruits should consider the Tigers. Why? It will not end well and there are better places to go, better options.
The state of the Memphis bball program at present IMHO is not good.

So, what about the other players who have said similar things when the crowds were there? Are you that blind or do you just like to be contrarian?
