Similar. I went from indifferent to Mick to blech.
I went from staunch supporter to unenthusiastic supporter after this season. Now, I just don't want to see his mug on tv.

I guess Universities need a Tortious interference clause in their sports gear contracts.

Since the offense dictates the action, you are taking away a natural advantage. Defending for a longer period of time in the half court seems to put more pressure on the defense, at least it feels that way when we defend.
rosewater, for not having a "basketball mind", you are very astute.
I am like many here, I have watched a blubillion games, and watching our team defend around the rim for 25 seconds seems more difficult than defending for 15 seconds.

And add to that - anyone see the games last night and notice how well the guards passed the ball to the bigs inside? A couple were threaded through a needle, and many resulted in easy baskets. Also helps, like thay all seemed to, to have guards quick enough to put pressure in their defenders.

I don't disagree with you, but feel compelled to point out that it takes two to perform an entry pass -- the passer and the big guy receiving the ball. It is hard to make the pass if the bigs aren't positioned correctly and haven't sealed their defender.

The fact that Mick explored his career options and decided to stay here does not bother me at all. The fact that we don't have a player who can make a jump shot does.

we shot way better against St. Joe's than Elite 8 team Oregon did, but don't let facts get in the way of your stupid point

It is what it is. If he needs resources to recruit better, I hope he got them. If he needs a new locker room, I hope he got that too. He's on the clock though.
Fwiw, I don't believe a damn thing coming out of unlv right now and could care less.

Fail to see how all of this is going to make Cronin a better offensive coach and a better recruiter, next year will be more of the same. Now that we have these players we're going to run and run and run and score and score, yada, yada, yada, until we start, of coarse, playing the better teams. Think UC just got bamboozled.

Your point? Shooting percentages mean diddly squat without the W.
UC still lost to St. Joe's.
Oregon beat St. Joe's.
Oregon > UC

Not much of a basketball guy, but why cant Mick change the way he coaches offense (or hire someone who knows offensive basketball better than he) while continuing to coach defense the same?
I feel like new assistants would be the best, most logical step towards fixing what has plagued this team for years.
Also, i know Mick is a great defensive coach, but there seems to be a constant flaw where the other team, regardless of opponent, has one poor 3 shooter who suddenly becomes Steph Curry against us. Whats with that?
And despite all that, im weirdly excited for him to be back/staying.

Didn't Pitino admit he brought Mick in to help coach defense. If its good enough for a hall of fame coach, it should be good enough for Mick if he has aspirations to be one.

If we see a better offense and we see player improvement then this is good. If next year is similar to this past season then Mick would be wise to keep a lower profile. I understand the facilities being important but until it happens get the most out of the players that are there.

RE: Mick is staying
I don't watch much basketball during the season, but have been enjoying the NCAA tournament this year. I can't do it anymore. I'm so enjoying the great entry passes, the shooting, the passing, the offensive flow, the understanding how to attack a zone, the sprinting the ball up the court, versatile post players, basketball IQ, etc. The thought of another season of none of this is just too much to bear.

If you want to feel better about UC's coaching situation, you can flip over to the soccer match going on right now.

I spent a lot of time this past season not turning on the new super-duper 65" curved uhd, which is sad because it rocks for watching sports. Also because I'm a Nielsen family.
