I am concerned that Rick Stansbury had a 56% winning percentage in conference. That's a 10-8 record in CUSA. Will that be good enough? Answer honestly. You want Western to be sporting 10-8 records every year?

That doesn't mean I was against his hire. Of all the ones that were available I really liked the Xavier assistant. But at the end I preferred someone with more experience. I preferred Stansbury over Felton and that was the final 2 choices.

But that doesn't mean I can't have concern over a guy who wins his home conference games and wins 6% of his road conference games. That is not a DOMINANT coaching job.

He's at Texas under Shaka Smart. The fans certainly considered him. But according to rumor for whatever that's worth he still wasn't in love with/loved by this administration. He was pretty much being forced out when Ty Rogers hit the shot against Drake. And just like all the other bottom feeders from BCS conference...espn pimping those conference made each of them trump and of our history..the bottom of the bottom of the sec is now considered better than any of our schools

People are upset because we have a new coach that we're trying to unite around as fan base...but you appear to not be over Harper leaving and appear to be attacking the Stansbury because of that. Everyone on both sides of the Harper argument were sick of the constant fighting and it appears everyone has come together to support Stansbury and to wish Harper good luck at JSU. Harper's taken the high road and deserves that credit since all this broke. You've made your point. It'll be noted in the history of WKU message board posters that you were mad that Harper left and you were upset that people were happy and excited about the Stansbury hire.

Stansbury is now my coach and as I said you wont see me bashing him for losing. Or the kids he brings in. If it takes him 2 or 3 years to win 23 games I will still be in Diddle. Of course I never bashed Harper and I never bashed KMD and I never bashed Horn for losing...while they were "my coach". After Horn left I did point out he did less with more than just about any coach at Western

Those are the facts, at least the way I see them.

Didn't bash their recruits day after day after day. I did point out weakness but not day after day after day...for 4 years. When a kid is having problems guarding other players...you point it out. But not day after day for their 4 years.

These same people that did the day after day after day for 4 long years are now preaching it takes time. We have the top recruiting asst in coach basketball (FACT - Stansbury was just named that for last year). We have a former head coach that was able to recruit a boat load of 4 and a handful of 5 star players to a town smaller than BG...

Chris Bread was named ULAR coach on April 7th last year and had to replace a ton more than Stansbury has to...he won 30 games. Those same people that are now willing to give 2 or 3 years were using UALR as the way it should be.

Hey I know that is rare to do what they did last year...I will be behind Stansbury the whole time he's at Western. I know young teams usually lose close games. I know it usually take time for a team to jell when you add half a team into the mix. So I will be behind my coach.

Stansbury was not my coach last year or the 14 seasons he coached at Miss. I saw a coach that was a smooth talker and most likely dirty (most coaches cheat..some a lot more than other..degrees). But there's no proof of that...no smoking gun. No NCAA knocking on his door. So now that he's 'my coach' he's as clean as a virgin snow. I also saw a coach that was winning in a place that's hard to win in. After looking at his numbers and breaking them down...

I saw he won but about 80% of the time he went up against a top 100 team OOC he loss 80+% of those on a NC or away. And only .500 vs those schools at home. With ALL OF THAT TALENT.

I just see the man a little different than most of you Western fans do. But make no mistake about it...he's 'my coach' and I will spin his stats while at Western to support him. Not tear him down as others did over the last 4 years.

But his record before getting here is just that...HIS RECORD. If posting that is upsetting some Western fans. Then you must not have looked at it before now. Nope..WE GOT A SEC COACH.

As for Harper getting fired I was over it the day it happened. Moved on from him being Western's coach. Didn't like the way Gary did it or his quote to the paper but Harper was no longer 'my coach'. Stansbury is. But some other people keep taking shots.

Just like I've been for every coach at Western. I think he has a chance to bring some very good players in. I'll be shocked if he brings the 4 and 5 star talent that he brought into Miss. State. I'll be happy but I'll be shocked. Because he'll be doing something that no other coach not named Clem Haskins has done in the last 35 years.

And your recruiting list shows many 4 and 5 star recruits. I've heard he's already said he'll be bringing in some recruits in this class that he normally won't be. I get that. Late start and all. We'll always do our best recruiting in the fall. Always.
