Pac-12 expansion?
With all the talk of the big 12 expanding I read some where that this may cause pac 12 may look to expand to 14 teams. I also read that Houston would be their top target as it would allow them to get into Texas for recruiting, as well as hurt their competition i.e. the big 12 in their stake in the Houston market.

I also read that in terms of revenue generated for the conference and its teams like the Big 10 network etc. that the Pac-12 network may soon fall far behind and will need to find a way to keep up. So adding Houston would be a huge possible boost in the number of subscriptions and possible revenue for the conference.

Any thoughts on this guys?

Pac-12 expansion?
Ok I'm not its is true but I'm not saying its false either. Just because its on the internet doesn't immediately make it false.

There are multiple articles explaining how the pac 12 network could be in trouble when compared to the other power conferences, especially in the next few years. Im just asking for opinions on the matter.

Pac-12 expansion?
Yes, it's a consideration. The Chronicle's beat writer has confirmed. Houston's TV ratings were very strong this year, beating Texas and A&M on several occasions. The only Big 12 game that outperformed UH-Temple was UT-OU and only by a tenth of a point. Peach Bowl ratings were in the double digits. Yes, the PAC 12 is falling behind the Big 10 and SEC and can only remedy that problem with more eyeballs in the PAC 12 Network. UH brings about 6.5 million. Not saying it's imminent or that the PAC wouldn't prefer Texas, but if UH continues on its present course it would be a valuable asset. There are no schools in the west that would be profitable enough to be brought in (BYU but
religious affiliation blocks them), and any schools in Texas or on the Plains that may ring the register are tied up for 20 years.

I think it is a legit question. I think it's possible for the P12 to expand to help its network. They are restricted somewhat by geography, and by not having a lot of viable candidates nearby. I've read several places that IF the P12 ever expanded, they could possibly look at Houston.

Makes sense to me. The P10 at the time, in 2010, came close to adding 4 TX schools, plus OU and OSU. Given that, Houston wouldn't be a stretch.

Of course, you're probably better off taking your question to the Conference Realignment forum, for more sensible answers. Here, you're talking to an audience of fans who want out themselves, or fans who want realignment to die.

Sure, you have no idea what you are talking about, and Houston's football attendance sucks as well.

RE: Pac-12 expansion?
Currently, the PAC 12 is endeavoring to add viewers in Asian countries.
The potential is huge.

There are no indications they are contemplating membership expansion.

The AAC is generally regarded to be above other G5 conferences. The best all members can do is continue the upward trajectory. AAC members are providing better, newer facilities, paying more to quality coaches, has higher attendance, better support, and better performance than any other G5. That path will eventually be rewarded.
