Is this the same BP that just suspended his best player? I didn't think we liked a coach to suspend players. Hows that going to work when a future coach suspends a guy. We gonna tear him apart too?
If the coach can actually coach and has a legit reason for suspending a player then I don't think people will mind

It is a double-standard and I get it. Roy Williams also suspended a starter this year for cursing - another one that Pastner catches heat about.
The difference though, is Williams and Pearl have bought goodwill by winning. And ultimately, that's what it all comes back to. When we have confidence the coach is building a winning program, we give some latitude.
Having said that, I hope it's not Pearl.

Just saying what I heard. Believe it, don't, think it's good news or bad, either way, we will all find out eventually.
I just hope it's Bruce Pearl. I don't know how we can afford him and I don't care. He's perfect for this program. He will sell it as good if not better than Cal. And I don't care that he lied about a BBQ. If you aren't cheating then you aren't trying...
I hope he is one of Keith's 3-4!!!
Pearl should be our 1st, second, third and fourth choice. Should have hired him a long time ago. Embrace the hate!

Ironically, it's the same type of thinking that thought the 3rd assistant on the bench that would be a fantastic X's and O's basketball head coach.

Archie Miller and Chris Mack (not leaving) are both better choices than Pearl who is a WWE version of Cal when it comes to PR. Not off to decent start at Auburn either. Would be in my lower top 5.

I hope we can do better than Bruce Pearl. I don't even understand why some of the people think he should be our top choice. He broke the rules and really only had the one good year when he beat us when we were ranked 1st and 2nd. Hasn't done much since. Damon hasn't impressed me either considering he is the main assistant coach and hasn't helped improve the situation either with JP and him at the helm. All I know is that we need an experienced coach that doesn't coach like it's high school or AAU basketball and get back to what we are accustomed too in this city.

Damon coaches guards primarily and that's where we have regressed the most from last season.

Do BETTER than BP?
Really?
Pearl is the exact guy we need. He's fun. He loves Memphis AND he can coach.
Give Pearl the reigns and we are back in the national picture

It's a done deal. And, most of you will be happy right after the last game of the season...
It's going to be funny, because this is likely to be be exactly what happens. Why anyone would bash you for this is beyond me.
Lighten up you Francises, most were simply messing with him in what I think was a good natured ribbing.

Easterwood is better than all these guys. I have been listening to him since at least the Finch years and he has told it like it is.

Yeah, I wasn't offended. I mean...it's just a message board.
That said, I probably should have trusted my first instinct and not posted it. Just second hand info from some guy I had never met. But, he did seem sincere and had no reason to lie to me. Unless, he was actually "btiger" and he used me as a message board pawn...?

RE: Decision on Pastner already made?
I am pretty sure our money guys already know what they will do. With that kind of money the plans are laid far in advance. They may not know if their offers will be accepted.
As far as money goes, I think the money would be there for any real name hire we could actually get. The reason I think that is Cal. Basketball is the one sport where you can buy your way into relevance, but there has to be something for sale.
I don't think any name coaches are on the market. I could be wrong.
I am fairly certain they aren't going to overpay for anyone less.
