Well, I think it's foolish to think we are in the lead with all the press now mentioning UConn (not just DeCourcey) and the stone cold truth that Cincy has to be a mortal lock as a bridge to WVU.
Having said that, it's not over till the announcement, correct?
Press on and keep hoping. What else is the option Hoop? Give up and enjoy life in The American USA Conference of the Sun Belt?
Gotta push the chips in, even if we have 4-6 off suited...
A lot better than 2-7 off suited.

You guys can criticize DeCourcey all you want but he is one of the last of straight shooters in national media and still has inside contacts at Memphis, Cincy, Big 10, Big 8 from his many years of work. He doesn't start rumors, he investigates them and reports. A rare thing these days. So dismiss him at your own peril.

And that's the only reason I started this thread.. All these tweeters and bloggers mentioned on here since all of the Big12 expansion talk started don't nor can't come close to his credentials.. Plus he didn't say it was going to happen he just reported who they are discussing at the present time should they expand!!

Mike continues to slurp over his hometown Cinci Bearcats...as almost all of his past articles over last year or two seemed to always promote Cinci as the #1 option.

Then he called Cincy a major market. Cincy is bigger than Memphis, NOLA, and Tulsa, but it is much smaller than Orlando, Tampa, or Philadelphia. In fact, Cincy is closer in size to Memphis than it is to Orlando. Cincy is definitely a mid-sized market.
Cincy has had a traditionally stronger athletic program than Memphis. USF and UCF are in Florida. UConn is a flagship state school of a very rich state. Tulane will get you educmacated. Temple is in a top ten market. Houston is not only in a major market, it could help stem the loss of that market to the $EC.
Memphis has to have a major sales job to say that despite all those advantages all the other schools have, the University of Memphis would provide the best combination of market size, fan avidity, corporate sponsorships, a competitive athletic department, and geography. More importantly, Memphis needs friends in the Big XII. We better hope Tom Bowen is kissing arse in Lawrence, Ames, Manhattan, and Stillwater. If we have the support of those schools, we can get in. ESPN will ultimately drive who goes in if they expand, and our strongest point is that our brand is well-known even if we have traditionally been a pushover in football.
Not true.
Orlando metro... 2.3 million
Cincinnati metro.. 2.15 million
Memphis metro... 1.35 million

UConn's recruiting class ought to inspire the BXII brass to rethink again ("again" if you believe the twitter guys who said it was UConn who took our position in expansion talks - and I do). UConn's class is last in the ACC -- can't get worse there --- and 98th overall - can't get much worse there.

University presidents decide. This board has delusionally convinced itself that it's football that's driving the realignment bus. It's always been more than that. More than sports. More than geography. More than butts in seats.

Yes - we all know there is more than one factor involved. Louisville is now an ACC school -selected over UConn. Why?

RE: Per Mike DeCourcey
Two things (and they are both longshots):
1. Change the UT medical school's affiliation to University of Memphis.
2. Go aggressively after the ACC.
This is the path forward.
