All that needs to happen is for us to push each other to get better than we are each year. ULL has money and Texas St. will hopefully get better with the new coach (honestly think the talent is already there, but the coaching has been horrid), stAte, GS, App, and Troy are steeped in winning tradition, USA is on track building a solid program and GaSt will get a boost from new digs at the TED. ULM, CC, NMSU can improve. I'm sorry to say Idaho looks like Big Sky might be in the future. [/align]

Yep.
Its not going to happen in the next 18 months. But there are meetings coming to an airport near you in the next 4 to 6 years,
Yup. And I can GUARANTEE you ULM won't be there, alluding to that GS poster's mock conference.
I also don't think anything geographical happens, except that at least one FL and TX school finds themselves being pulled up for recruiting access reasons. I think the cheese separates from the curd, the meat from the fat, the silica packet from the bag of jerky.
The supergroup is out there: USM, WKU, MT, NT, FIU, Marshall, Toledo, NIU, LaTech, GSo. Room for 2 more possibly. Lots of possibilities there. I say either app and stAte or Army and Umass.
You get a couple markets, some bball, lots of football, and built in rivalries, plus the Florida, Texas, and Georgia recruiting grounds. Call it The Metro Conference and call it a day.

Lololololol. You lost me at Idaho to MWC. Dead serious, I read nothing more. Not a good opener. Unless it was a joke. In which case brilliant. I love dry humor.

Nice ^. A quick inventory of our circumstances in the SB should reveal to any one paying attention that the conference is currently positioned well with much to leverage as whatever unfolds with realignment. We can stick together and keep knocking on the ceiling as we did this year as we should and is likely the expectations going forward, again for anyone paying attention, while taking this time to improve our facilities. The best thing that can happen for the remainder of the G5 is to act quick or risk getting passed by. We have a good conference and with little change we can enhance the conference significantly.

I like it! Just whatever happens, App and GS please include Coastal. I'd hate to move up and then you two move out.

RE: Time for a G5 shuffle?
Talk of splits and mergers makes sense but doesn't realistic. What seems a bit more realistic is that a couple of members from CUSA would drop so they get down to 12. Are any members unhappy that they'd want to leave?
Getting UTEP and adding NMSU all sports would make sense. But is it even feasible?

I was interested in how you define it, and what criteria a university needs to possess to be super.

One easy way to make up for the lost revenue is cutting travel AND having teams that can actually bring visiting fans. This would help build rivalries again that mean a little more, and make for a better experience.
Whether this is an east/west divide or a break away like the MWC is yet to be determined. I could see a group of schools holding up the reshuffle and that leading to another group to form a new conference.
Yeah the fat lady is about to sing. One day soon the insanity will end.

How about this. The only long trip is UNT and stAte, but everyone else is so close except them.
Eastern League
North Division
MU and ODU
MTSU and WKU
APP and UNCC
South Division
GAST and UAB
GASO and CCU
FAU and FIU

Troy and USA

TXST and UTSA
NMSU and UTEP
Since Rice thinks they're too good for everyone they can go find themselves a new home.

Yeah they're in there to stay in Florida and Texas. Rice would go MWC with UTEP, and not sold on UTSA. TxSt is in UT's backyard but could be a better option. UNT got rid of a bad coach, has invested heavily in facilities (Apogee), and has history with most of the other schools, which TxSt does not. As for Florida, I like FIU over FAU. Bigger enrollment, research institution reputation, ceiling, etc., even name recognition.

In the past 5 seasons 3 of those teams have been ranked and half received votes. And then just cross apply everything I already said about the schools/hypothetical conference. It's stronger top to bottom than any of the other conferences devised in this thread.
