Two Teams need to go......
Deregulation of the Championship game is an opportunity the AAC should embrace. Why do WE have 12 members again?.....those were the rules at the time and a common accepted notion in the era of modern day college football (The minimum number of Teams needed for a Conference is 12). Seems the new number is "10".
The AAC should use the years left on its ESPN contract to determine which two teams get "voted off the Island". This is nothing more than a business decision, similar to the one where it seems ESPN might be obligated to provide "rebates/free ads" for the failure in TV ratings for the CFB Play-Off to its Advertisers.
If your Team is consistently noncompetitive, You fail to meet meaningful attendance requirements, your TV ratings are the lowest on a regular basis....You got to go, no hard feelings.
Do you REALLY believe ESPN would reduce our contract because we discharged the two bottom teams? Those two bottom teams, whoever they are, are not moving the needle when it comes to TV $$$...plus or minus. They are however counted in a denominator for a simple math-problem. We need to reduce the denominator in the math equation.
Let's not act like its never been done before...Ask Temple.

At least now we know that - even if we lost 2 teams - we'd still have good options to stay at 10.
Hopefully this now ends the threads that pop up about adding the Rices or NIUs...

But nobody in New Orleans watches Tulane.
Tulane's academics isn't going to help with anything. Ivy League is FCS...

New Orleans is the #51 DMA (behind #50 Memphis, #36 Cincinnati, #30 Hartford/New Haven, #19 Orlando, #11 Tampa, #10 Houston, #5 Dallas, and #4 Philly).
In terms of being the "academic" school, Tulane does not field competitive teams (like a Duke or Stanford). They also aren't elite enough to suck at sports (like a Rice, Vandy, or Northwestern).
Unfortunately, Aresco doesn't have the gonads to do what is in the best interest of the conference and tell Tulane...

This was sent to the smack board for a reason.
The last team to get kicked out an FBS conference has never lost to ECU in any major sport since either team joined, and won the east outright this past season.
Don't make this thread again.
