Are we happy or sad about this?
Are you stalking me? You seem like a nice person, but I do not roll that way (not that there is anything wrong with that).
Does that mean you're happy?

It's no secret that Josh and Geoff don't get along. As a national CBB reporter told me a few weeks ago, he has rarely seen weaker support from local media for a major program like Memphis.

Unless Jeff knows basketball CPR, I doubt his "support" would help.

I don't see it. The stuff with Shaq IMO said a lot. Plus he don't have the options that he had in previous years. He's got his 7-8 guys now. If Dedric goes pro next year is going to be interesting.
It only took him 6 years to figure out that your bigs should not have to run out to the key (or past) to set a pick and run all the way back to the basket to defend the goal. That's progress. Slow progress, but progress.
Haha.....there is that.

Media support is a by-product of community support. Josh lost the community support as evidence by attendance, TV ratings, web site hits, etc, and has therefore lost the media attention. When he was hired, this program enjoyed unparalleled interest from the local media. Quite frankly, Tiger basketball WAS the #1 sports story in the market. Now, its nowhere close and that's not the fault of the media... its the fault of the people running the program. After 7 years, you cant blame the Yugo salesman for not being able to sell the crappy car no one wants to buy.

They are football fanatics on 56. I've heard them talk for hours about football while either the Masters tournament, World Series, final four or NBA finals are going on. Why don't they just call it WHBQ Football 56? All football all the time. If basketball even gets a sniff it's the Grizzlies which are not doing any better than the Tigers. If nothing else talk about some of the past great Tiger teams and players. It's better than hearing non stop football. I'll agree the football Tigers have had a lot more to be excited about although it remains to be seen whether they will stay relevant or not with the coach not caring enough to see the season through before taking a powder.

Then shame on Calkins. It is not his job to parrot the fan base. It's his job to report, good, bad or indifferent.

Writers aren't stupid. They have seen, maybe closer than most, what goes on with programs and Memphis is no different. They cover other programs, maybe not as closely, but they are smart enough to compare and contrast.
They also talk to players, families and insiders and certainly draw conclusions.
Some reporters make up a portion of the nattering 9,000 and are likely to not take the team seriously until Josh is gone. It is what it is.

Insanely stressed out since I'm booked drafting on my Monday meeting tomorrow until tomorrow. Add to that this guy has more juice than my normal client base and can either accelerate my studio's client development or hurt it in a serious manner.
C'est la vie, it's the life I've chosen and the client is always right. That's all I know and all I need to know.
Thanks for the couch mate, I haven't seen the cranium reducer in a few years and am seriously considering getting back in the couch position.

Do you think personal animosity could slant his objectivity?

So, what's wrong with that? Maybe football is what draws the most interest, especially this time of year. Talking about past great Tiger teams or players doesn't take away from the fact that apathy has set in under the current coaching situation and for the most part, many have just stopped caring.

Ate dinner at Local on the Square Saturday night and got there right at end of UConn game. I was shocked with all the TV's they had in the place that maybe two or 3 had our game on rest was on NFL (Pitt/Cincy). I didn't hear anyone cheering or moaning the outcome it may as well been USF playing UCF, really surprised me but it said a lot
