under NCAA rules...... no matter what YOU claim... they would consider you a UT Athletic Booster. Remember the NCAA is about penalizing schools not promoting.
I had to see more than something on a message board to convince me of that. Think of the implications? We couldn't talk to just about anyone in town and we're just some people on a message board.
I'm pretty sure, I'm hoping you've got that really wrong. And if correct, how would they look upon a player/player's Dad trying to contact said "booster," which is exactly what you're saying is occurring here. Actually, nearly everywhere since that ID shows up on boards other than csnbbs.

I haven't read what I've linked to closely enough to know who's right, but I generally stay out of discussions about recruits. Mostly because I haven't seen the player play and even if I had, I'm not knowledgable enough to comment on the person's talent level and how he or she would compete in the MAC.

They're all positive. I'm not here to promote anything if that's the concern.
I'm just not into circle jerks. They're not particularly interesting conversation to me and they usually go with one guy saying something meant to be followed then the "oh yeahs" chiming in. They don't lead to either insight or positive movement. They lead to stagnation. Some people (most fans) see anything other than glowing commentary as "negative." I see them mostly as observations and opinions and I don't change my opinion based upon how many are against it. I change it based upon facts brought to the conversation. Circle jerks don't tend to illicit facts.
Are there experts here we should all be cow towing to?
Now, how many positives are you getting out of OP's approach to getting his kid recruited?

And since you obviously have something against people who went to a private school, you just assume that everyone who did grew up with a "silver spoon". Must be that east side education coming through.

There are a LOT better ways to get your kid out there. Perhaps the better approach on sports message boards would be to search for those threads discussing the topic or to ask. There are plenty of coaches, former players and the like that could give you advice for a route that doesn't make you appear unseemly.
Pimps get paid, usually more than the ho. I get nothing from this financially, as a matter of fact I am paying for trainers, coaches etc. So basically what I am saying is don't be such a dick and STFU.

However......
We on this board love our Alma Mater (The University of Toledo) and our Rockets. Although we do complain about them too much some times. No rose colored glasses around here. Because this message board is made up of alumni and Rocket sports fans and ticket holders, we are considered "athletic boosters" of The University of Toledo by the overreaching NCAA. As such, we, members of this athletic message board, by NCAA rules, are not allowed to converse or have contact to a prospective recruit, their family members (like you) , or anyone associated with their recruitment (such as his coach). Not our rules....it their rules..... Obviously, we are glad you and your son are interested in "the best kept secret in college football" and are welcome to follow along on this board. However, we as members are not technically allow to respond to your posts or converse with you, and have nothing to do with recruiting. If you would like to post updates on this board that is entirely up to you. After all this is open to the public.....
Here is what you and your son needs to do.
1. Contact and send game film and his vital stats to Coach Candle, the new offensive coordinator, and the recruiting coordinator. (as he gets older send additional film to show his progress)
2. Plan to attend summer football camp at The University of Toledo run by the coaching staff each year starting with this summer so the staff can get an up close view of your son and also they can measure him as a person physically and mentally.
3. Attend one home Saturday night game each year if passible. I suggest the Fresno State game this year in September. (There is nothing cooler than a night game in the Glass Bowl)
Just so you know I graduated from HS in Orlando FL in 1973. I went to 2 of the 3 Tangerine bowls Toledo was in. Toledo was the first college football game I ever attended. The recruited me to play football, I was 6'5" 245. However I declined and played college basketball instead.

There's nothing wrong with what Mr Cisco did. He knows that coaches and their GA's read their school's message boards. He also knows that the kid and his parents have to actively recruit the DI schools to get noticed. This post wasn't so much for the fans as it was for the hope that a coach, GA, or secretary sees it and it sparks interest from the school.
I'm not here to promote anything if that's the concern.
