I'm a little surprised they'd be talking about it 3 years later. But I guess if you're an FSU fan you don't have a life.

Yeah no kidding to have that stick in your craw for 3 years. BTW it was a 7 pt ballgame at the start of the 4th quarter despite what the final score was. It was a close game into the final period, not the route the Criminoles may want to believe it was

It's just like everyone on here who still complains about what Herby said... That's like 95% of the people on this board

There is an expression: "It's better to be thought to be stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
Seriously 2015, why would you make a stupid comment like "the rest of their sports teams suck"?
Couple weeks ago as the defending (2014) National Champions in women's soccer they made the Final Four but got beat and were two wins shy from consecutive championships.
Women's volleyball not only made but won a game in the NCAA tournament, same for baseball, softball, men's tennis, men's swimming; men's golf finished 11th last spring and women's golf tied for 10th. FSU not only had individual qualifiers but made the NCAA Track and Cross Country meets as a team. Their women's basketball squad -- coached by a former Huskie assistant -- is currently ranked No. 11 or 9 depending on the poll, and just lost at No. 1 UConn after reaching the Elite Eight for 2014-15.
Yes, FSU men's basketball didn't make the NCAA or NIT tournament last year, of course, the final record was 17-16, still a step above nine straight losing seasons.
Not sure which is worse, the arrogance of FSU football players who can't remember how close things were during the third quarter or some of the folks on here who insist on showing their lack knowledge and choose to sink to a low level.

The 2012 FSU fans were convinced they would play for National Championship.
Then they lost 16-17 to Doreen's future team

That. . . NIU gave them their tightest game of that calendar year. It's just a cotillion girl whining.

i make no apologies for us making it there. there were literally 10 dominoes that had to fall for us to make it. The remotest odds - the greatest bowl bid we ever got

And you could tell by the expressions on the faces of the FSU fans in the 3rd quarter - they were concerned, at the very least.

Within that calendar year - where they went on to win the National Championship the following bowl season, it was NIU that gave them their closest game.

RE: Former FSU Players and Fans still bitter about playing NIU in Orange Bowl
I don't have a problem with FSU fans and players still popping off about that game. Those players wanted to prove themselves in a bowl game - they had a no win situation against NIU. Lose the game and they're a laughingstock, win it and no one cares because they were supposed to win it.

It is what it is. Until there is a true playoff system with multiple teams, no one is going to want to play the G5 rep in the big game. It's no different, really, then NIU fans moaning when there were whispers the Huskies might draw Appalachian State. No one wants to conclude their season by playing the weakling (even if the weakling might be just as good as your own team).

As for the comments about Lynch - he has it coming. He ran his hole before the game and didn't back it up on the field. I loved the confidence he had, but when you get cocky and you lay an egg, you're gonna wear that egg on your face.

That's only based on the name of the school. Would they have been saying the same if they had beaten a name team like Oklahoma by 28 points, even though Oklahoma simply wasn't that good that year? Teams like them had been getting crushed in BCS bowl games before - multiple times.
