I saw Metallica in Savage at the height of their popularity. You certainly can't get much bigger than them. The funny part about that show was the signs on the door outside that read "NO THREATENING JEWELRY ALLOWED".

I also saw Rush there...9th row center on the floor. That was a great show!

You find a riser, something on the radar but not yet big. I recall BG had Moby before he was MOBY.

What shows don't we get enough of? Probably the wrong crowd to be asking. I'd imagine comedians and circuses. Can't have enough circuses. And clown cars. And those trapezes ladies that tell your wee-wee it has other functions you hadn't yet thought it had.

Well it is the political season . . . .

I can think of one that would at least pack the place out with demonstrators. UT could charge double!

RE: UT To Bring Concerts To Savage Arena
I worked as a stagehand at Savage in the late 90's. First show I helped on was Reba with Brooks and Dunn. That was quite a crash course in stagehanding. 20+ trucks, doing all sorts of stuff that OSHA wouldn't like to hear about.. Had lots of fun though. Hopefully they allow students to work there for the shows again, pretty nice as a broke kid being able to pick up a 30-hour paycheck in one weekend.

Moby is cool, and a very humble and likable guy, but Savage Hall brought in the Dave Matthews Band when they were playing arenas instead of amphitheaters. They got Kenny Chesney before he was hosting ubiquitous reality tv shows. They hosted the SnoCore tour with Trapt while they were full of themselves over the one hit they had in their career, with Finger Eleven opening before they had their two gigantic US hits. UT wins again.

They're not gonna get Adele to play at Savage Arena, they're not gonna get The Foo Fighters, but getting the next tier down should be a slam dunk. I'm mad that they got away from the concert scene to begin with.

Dave Matthews Band was 1996

Hootie & The Blowfish played there during their peak back in 1998.

Beach Boys.

Chicago.
Don't know that the Beach Boys played Savage but they did play in the Glassbowl. I was at that one. I believe Tammy Wynette, Chrystal Gayle and, Randy Traves played Savage Hall at the same time.

So far, both concerts scheduled have been oldies reviews. 03-puke Hope that trend dies quickly.

Pretty narrow representation of the 90s but looks like it could be fun. It's not exactly all THAT oldies. More like middies.

This show and the hair metal show might be fun for those of us who lived it the first time around. Certainly don't expect a nostalgia parade exclusively, but the music biz has changed a lot over the last decade or two. There simply aren't as many tours packing arenas anymore.

I think this is an meant to start up a new UTMC program in Geriatric Musician Medicine. Possibly with a minor in studying whether long term use of certain "substances" can prolong life.

Need more modern acts like Cage the Elephant, Death Cab for Cutie, Bastille, etc. Meghan Trainor would be a huge get.

Death Cab is a nineties band. Hard to believe they've been around twenty years.

Hard to believe old farts are even talking about 90s bands let alone whatever the heck those other ones are. I do agree with Boca, they should be making memories for the present student body so when they're old farts, they can come here and talk about student days at Savage.

Very late nineties.

I'd drop whatever it took to see Cage the Elephant. Meghan T not so much but she is big right now. I suppose we'll see the obligatory country/pop people next.
