But...is this really more of the incorrect idea that elders make more than philosophers play to the Blue collar crowd nonsense?

Goodness. I have also encountered a ton of guys in overalls that had trouble putting together any level of common sense...maybe we can end this stuff. Just because someone is a professor, doctor, lawyer or the like, does not mean that do not have street sense.

Disturbing trend this embracing ignorance. Not suggesting you were, but it is a trend. Instead, would prefer, and there you go gang, just an opinion...act how you like...prefer people embrace the good in all professions...any collar, any salary.

On this, we agree. There is value in all knowledge, both formal learning and practical skills. There needs to be more understanding and appreciation from both sides.

Because they pointed out some systematic issues that have been lingering there for quite some time? Because the football team, similar to the OU football team earlier this year, banded together to have their voice heard for a larger cause?

Wacko...right.

When you have a professor in the communications department who doesnt understand free speech and the right of the press, they are wackos and nutjobs.

And when they start controlling athletics, they are going to find out that coaches dont want a part of that. You think any coach who isnt about to retire would have supported the athletes sitting out? They would become toxic. Nobody would hire them after that.

Please don't go looking for a crazy prof or 2 at Memphis and extrapolate their behavior to the whole University.

College Professors that know how the real world works are the exception more than the rule. I had an auto auction for 30 years and sold vehicles to guys in overalls that had more applicable knowledge than University Professors.

03-zzz

Captain of the debate team huh?

Keep swinging for the fences there, chief. Your lazy stereotype about academic professionals is in no way tired or insulting to the vast majority of people in the field.

The post made after mine is a good start for your debate that I'll refuse to entertain your brilliant mind with. Apologies.

RE: Vernon: "Barry Odom or Search Firm"
Mizzou hires Odom and we can't get him then back then The Same search firm would be put together....Now Bill Clark, and others would show their interest and the firm will get the best fits for the job....I would hope names the Firm would look into would be Matt or Luke Wells of USU, Sonny Cumbie of TCU, Kendall Briles of BU would be one, and HOpefully Scott Frost of Oregon.....We just need to make another Homerun Hire, and we are in wait Mode for Barry Odom and to see what Mizzou does first....If not then firm would be hired back again to find the best Fit....The World Is Ours Memphis.....

Dan Enos @ Arkansas

He left being a head coach to be an OC. By his own admission, he doesn't want to be a HC and he isn't leaving the SEC to come here to be OC.

That's a lot of competition from a lot f schools looking for head coaches. An Odom hire would solve all of that --- w/ the benefit of getting a damn good coach. 03-wink

Agreed

Mmmm. No thanks. He was a head coach and left to become the offensive coordinator at Arkansas because he was on the hot seat.

so did the UAB coach that is now Louisville's OC.

I agree, but I guess odom could hire a good OC and let him do his thing...

I still would rather target an OC with a high powered offense.

Difference being, we are not Alabama, LSU, Miami, or USC. We cannot recruit at those levels. And we don't have proven OC's lining up to get experience at our school.

Patterson is an outlier on many different levels.

Sonny Cumbie joined the TCU football staff as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in December 2013.

Sonny sounds a lot like the start that coach FU had. duhhh

You want a young offense minded coach . Look at ole Sonny
