Why are they wacko?

Because they pointed out some systematic issues that have been lingering there for quite some time? Because the football team, similar to the OU football team earlier this year, banded together to have their voice heard for a larger cause?

Wacko...right.

When you have a professor in the communications department who doesnt understand free speech and the right of the press, they are wackos and nutjobs.

And when they start controlling athletics, they are going to find out that coaches dont want a part of that. You think any coach who isnt about to retire would have supported the athletes sitting out? They would become toxic. Nobody would hire them after that.

Please don't go looking for a crazy prof or 2 at Memphis and extrapolate their behavior to the whole University.

I'm not. Which is why its important not to allow them to affect athletics. Which is also why Missouri may be screwed at the moment.

Why do people want Odom? Do you Really want to take a step back and go with a defensive minded head coach?

He's a great defensive mind and a players coach. It wouldn't be a step back IF he hires a progressive OC, like Sean Lewis at Bowling Green.

I agree. I have no problem with Odom as long as he keeps his mitts off the offense and hires a good OC. God knows our defense needs to get its edge back.

We'll be luck if we get Odom since I doubt Missouri lets him get away.

From what I can tell, he is under very serious consideration there, but of course he probably won't be good enough for some of the experts on our board.

I just cannot imagine Missouri going after a proven head coach. They are in the SEC and have two division titles, they should be able to attract a head coach from somebody...
Do you mean unproven head coach?

Meant to put I just cannot imagine Missouri not going after a proven head coach...
Good catch. 04-cheers

The issue is if any established coach wants to take on the amount of crap that is going on at Missouri. There is some major baggage with that job right now.

College Professors that know how the real world works are the exception more than the rule. I had an auto auction for 30 years and sold vehicles to guys in overalls that had more applicable knowledge than University Professors.

I used to make a killing off those with multiple degrees. Seems the more degrees they have the less common sense and ability to operate in the real world.

About cars I am sure.

And there is nobility in auto work, welding, plumbing, and all productive careers.

But...is this really more of the incorrect idea that elders make more than philosophers play to the Blue collar crowd nonsense?

Goodness. I have also encountered a ton of guys in overalls that had trouble putting together any level of common sense...maybe we can end this stuff. Just because someone is a professor, doctor, lawyer or the like, does not mean that do not have street sense.

Disturbing trend this embracing ignorance. Not suggesting you were, but it is a trend. Instead, would prefer, and there you go gang, just an opinion...act how you like...prefer people embrace the good in all professions...any collar, any salary.

Exactly like Lynch wasn't "good enough" for the 'QB experts' here. Not that they'd seen him in practices or anything --

The problem is the great majority never spent time with any job other than education so they suggest theory without any input or experience except for each others. I would compare it to someone studying the art of playing a musical instrument and teaching others to play without ever actually playing the instrument of subject.

I'd bet they call the Missouri State hc...he was also on staff at Missou...

Missouri State is 1-10 with mostly blowout losses. Try again.

it was his first year, you try again. It was a FCS school...

Some talk out there that Herman pulled his name out at SC because there was a decision that the two schools that B12 has listed as next two additions as Houston and Cincy. Houston because of state legislators putting pressure on other Texas schools. Hope that is not the case.

Mmmm. No thanks. He was a head coach and left to become the offensive coordinator at Arkansas because he was on the hot seat.
