We threw the bank at Fuente, same as y'all did for Herman. Doesn't matter, they both seem to be gone but such is life in college athletics.

Not wanting to trade places with Houston either. We have bigger football most years and larger basketball every year. I will give you baseball, but I have no interest in the small time sports, eventhough I guess we are pretty good in womens soccer.

Yup. they all lie. We should know at UC. All bold faced lied and deserted the team as fast as they could run. Coaches could really care less about the players, school or fans. Totally in it for the money and we are all not destination schools.

That's what they all say... until they're on a private plane with their families to the press conference.

It is better than South Carolina that is for sure

You think Houston is better than a university that can raise over a billion dollars for its scholarships and athletics? A university that can pack an 80,000+ stadium consistently, with the facilities you're trying to build already built and ready to go. In the SEC within a division that he can succeed in? With a university ready and consistently pouring money into everything? I've live in Columbia for 7 years now and half of downtown is now University of South Carolina.

Look, Texas recruiting is better. Sure. The recruiting class coming into SC this year is taking a hit due to Spurrier leaving. It's currently on 49 in the nation. But if he succeeds at South Carolina? The level of success will always be more than Houston would bring him.

Many think Tanner and Herman refuting the claims is talk to make assure it isn't happening...until at least next week.

But if Herman wants to succeed immediately? Houston would be the better bet. South Carolina needs a rebuild.

Houston just poach their coach from them. There is not a soul on this planet besides C-USA fans that think a C-USA coach would not take an AAC job. That is like going from t-ball to MLB. Then again I honestly do believe Houston is way way above hiring a coach from a lesser school like Southern Miss.

That just makes too much sense unless you never left the state of Texas. USCe is top 25 in recruiting year after year traditionally. IMO poor coaching is the problem.

A Tulane fan talking smack to a Southern Miss fan is something. Then again, Tulane did have the best season in C-USA history and better than anything USM has ever done.

LMAO

every week we have some USM fan come in to brag about this, that upset must be the happiest and biggest moment in usm fan history

everyone else has moved on, found new heart breaks, new triumph, but usm still living in 2011.
we've been upset in numerous CCGs but you dont see ecu fans nonstop bragging about the upset they had on us or ucf fans. we've chocked away plenty championships

but its time for usm fans to move on.

ps we are 2-2 in our last 4 meetings, 3-3 in our last 6, im confused about the "easy win" part....the only time usm has beat us consistently is when 97-04, the worst era in UH football history where everyone beat us and we averaged 3-4 wins a season

They beat UH convincingly sometimes. I still remember the 6-3 game around the turn of the century.

Just sayin.. Memphis fb history is light years behind UH. That's not due to chance.

Yet your coach is still taking the first best option out of Houston...That's not due to chance.

07-coffee3

If that's the case, then Houston will draw from the top of the pile of leftovers... Memphis will get someone no one else is interviewing.

Memphis will get someone from the Fuente coaching tree like Barry Odom, Dickey, Blankenship, etc that will keep the team together, and run the same offense.

07-coffee3

Continuity! It worked with UH hiring Levine ... not.
