Herman is going to leave Houston next week
I think this is straight BS that he is only going to stick around for 1 year and bail on us. What in hell does South Carolina even freaking offered that can't be matched by Houston. Houston made Herman. He is only successful because of the talent we have from Texas. He will not have that at South Carolina. He is going to learn the hard way money isn't the answer to everything.

Dude, it's ridiculous to leave after a year, yes. But you seem to think UH is on par with Bama.

RE: Herman is going to leave Houston next week
I hope that a coach like CTH thinks about both the upside and downside of a move to SC. I do not have a doubt they are interested.
Just look at the history of SC.
Holtz won there because of massive NCAA violations which was a risk he was willing to take. Then collapse.
Spurrier left UF for the NFL and was an abject failure there. Then returned to SC but could never replicate the status he had at UF. They had a couple of good season, but most were middling and disappointing.
If CTH is middling there they will be able to buy him out. But CTH will have lost the "golden boy" status.
Many a great coach has ended up in WAC, MWC and MAC schools after failing once they got the big money/dream job.
That said, CTH said the rumors were false. So hopefully that puts it to bed.

If it makes you feel better, Fuente is most likely heading to VaTech next week...such is life.

Barry Odom, Darrell Dickey, I still think Bill Blankenship can be a good coach if he can get some recruiting going on...Memphis will be fine.

there is none... 1991 took a report from a small local station that said an agreement had been reached and herman might go visit them next week..
he then exaggerated the rest into something in his mind..he turned visiting next week to "leaving next week"

ps for what its worth, SC AD said those arent remotely true and herman says that the rumors arent remotely true and its the internet doing what he internet does best..

Lane Kiffin doesn't think so.

It sucks, but Houston has laid some pretty good groundwork so hopefully they can pick up another good coach.

It reminds me of when Gary Patterson was supposedly a done deal at Kansas State (while TCU was still in the Mountain West I might add)

lol, there are two types of jobs...P5 and G5

to these up and coming coaches, we're all the same...the sooner you figure that out, the sooner your blood pressure will go down.

Not true. There are levels to this that go beyond autonomy. Tulane>Memphis>Houston

Just sayin.. Memphis fb history is light years behind UH. That's not due to chance.

Yet your coach is still taking the first best option out of Houston...That's not due to chance.

If that's the case, then Houston will draw from the top of the pile of leftovers... Memphis will get someone no one else is interviewing.
