I just get the feeling Fuente wants to raise his family in the center of the country.

Perhaps whether or not we can show up in force to a Tulane game on Halloween, not just an Ole Miss game on an average Saturday, may help coach Fuente decide if he can turn this into a truly "big-time" football school al-la TCU.

Now that you put it that way, I am more concerned thàn ever about Saturday. As another poster brought up, what about the Grizz home game? Yikes.

I haven't checked the Orpheum schedule, or any other civic scheduled events, but those also could be concerns affecting Saturday attendance. What about Mass...other denominational services held this Saturday?

I too think Coach Justin Fuente makes his decision on where he coaches next year based on this critical Halloween game this Saturday. Buckle up and do your part

Good points on all you mentioned in your post, but what concerns me the most is the weather. Rain predicted is 50-60% in Saturday"s forecast. Bummer.

As far as I'm concerned, there would be no more ambiguous (at the risk of being mis-interpreted) message sent to Justin than for him to walk into a half-filled stadium this Saturday with a 7-0 team that is ranked #16th in the nation.

I definitely agree with your point. It's a snowball effect. Fans packing the stadium and showing support will be noticed by many people - Fuente, P5 members, the media, recruits, etc. While Fuente may still choose to advance his career, if people show up in droves it sends a clear message that we know this program can be big time and will do what we can to make it happen. More fans = more money = better chances of continued success. Plus, should we lose Fuente the fan support may help sway another coach to look at us as more than merely a flash in the pan bottom feeder who just got a lucky hire.

My three will be there. I keep some Memphis Tigers panchos I got cheap at Academy Sports in the back of my Jeep just in case of a game like this.

I don't know what their stadium holds, but TCU averaged 44,700 last year. Presently we're averaging 49,000. Our average will drop but we could match TCU. So we're already there if TCU is the marker.

Now let's keep that momentum rolling! I live too far to attend the games, but I'll do my part by watching every game on TV. Of course, now that the team is ranked it's a whole lot easier than trying to find it on ESPN 8, "The Ocho."

Crowd will be fine. Probably in the 40-42K range.

Navy will push 50K.

This is the kind of thing I just don't understand about posts around here.

I thought Calipari would stay in Memphis because Ellen Calipari loved Memphis and her friends here!

Justin Fuente is a football coach. He wants to be where he can win and earn good money at it. I'm sure he can find a good community with good people, spiritual support, and great schools anywhere in the country. There is nothing in the middle of the country that's good or bad versus anywhere else. If he went to USC or Miami, he is a flight away (likely on a private jet) away from the middle of the country.

It's like this thing folks have between him and Gary Patterson. He worked for Patterson five seasons. He worked at Illinois State longer.

So I hope he stays. But if the iron is hot and Paxton declares (if he is a guaranteed first round pick he needs to take that money), if he can get a top tier job, he needs to go. I'm not taking South Carolina or Maryland where he's going up a mountain... I mean a job at a school that is (or positioned to be) a top program in a power conference.

That's USC. That's Miami.

Miami wants to bring back the "U" which means corruption which means NO Fuente. He won't take his family to MIAMI not a great fit. He does not deal with the foolishness.

04-cheers

I heard yesterday on College game day from Finebaum and Kannell that UCF is a much better situation than Miami because of facilities, fanbase, and money. Don't think Fuente would consider either, but interesting how times have changed and with the right commitment, how a school's football image can improve nationally.
