Well he has been tied to every other open coaching job. So just wanted to keep it 100%.

UCF is a massive step down. Trust me. I went there for post grad studies.

(no, he's not taking UCF)

RE: Fuente to UCF - Strat57 - 10-25-2015 05:01 PM

Unless Southern Cal calls, none of the current open jobs interest him, I would bet.

I would bet he'd listen South Carolina, Miami (which will be available I reckon), and Maryland.

But all would have to really sell him, not the other way around.

The bigger issue is when the wheel spins again.
I could see some jobs coming open as a surprise from:

- teams that should give their guys more leeway and time, but don't (ex: UTk, Texas types)
- guys who leave to take the bigger jobs (ex: TCU's HC goes to USC?)
- guys who leave b/c the NFL comes calling (ex: Saban seems bored doesn't he?)
- and guys who just get fired on shocking grounds (ex: Oklahoma just fires Stoops b/c... well b/c).

I think there is a shot he stays, but let's just enjoy the year. It's a fine year anyway 04-rock

If USC goes 4-1 to close out the season, I believe they either have to go NFL-large, or keep what they have. There are too many asses and dollars on the line as it is out there.

I concur, but we're talking about the egos of millionaire boosters at a storied program, so I'd say all bets are off.

Miami job open now.

I just get the feeling Fuente wants to raise his family in the center of the country.

While writers and the fan bases at these schools are bringing up Fuente's name. Not sure the search committees or ADs at some of these top jobs will turn over their program to a coach with just four years head coaching experience. It would be a out on a limb type of hire at a major P5 school. Think major worries would be a historically middle of pack P5 schools who wants a young coach.

Ole Miss hired a coach with little head coaching experience...as did Boise State, Texas Tech, Florida, and Auburn.

This may be the dumbest thread in mto history

RE: Fuente to UCF - TruTiger77 - 10-25-2015 08:07 PM

I still think if he leaves it's for a Big 12 or SEC west school. Not only JF but the entire staff is from Big 12 country. I see him leaving for the following: Arkansas, Ok, Ok State, Texas, TAMU, TCU, or Missouri-maybe (Pretty much old Southwest conference)

Maryland scares me the most. We have to come correct with pay for assistants and for him (think this is all very doable), but we also have to be in or damn close to getting in a P5. The downside of all of this and please remember this during the basketball season of our discontent is that financially to keep Fuente, Pastner has to stay.

Stop listening to Greg Gaston. He's biased because he's a Maryland alum

I am NOT listening to Greg Gaston, I am listening to someone who knows things. Maryland is a player on all of this, don't kid yourself.
