Eastern is 0-4 at home. Western is 1-3 on the road. Over the years that dump of a gray building has occasionally been a house of horrors for the Broncos. I have seen one game from this stadium and since you need the
Hubble telescope to actually see the action on the field, it really hasn't been worth a return trip.

While Western considers this a game against their little brother, Eastern considers it their game of the year. I think once again the Broncos fall to cover but will win the game.

EMU will give either WMU or CMU an upset scare, but still lose. Given that this game is in Ypsi, and EMU plays in Mount Pleasant, it will probably be WMU.

That said, EMU's game at CMU will be the day after Thanksgiving with maybe 826 people (including the CMU band) in attendance. It will be a home game feel for EMU.

Why does the MAC schedule football games the day after Thanksgiving when students are gone and people have family obligations? Nobody shows, and nobody watches on TV, either. Stupid.

WMU 41, EMU 31 -- a closer one than we'd like.

I think we lose by 14. Just a bad feeling. Hope I am wrong, like I was about Ohio.

Get outta here...

EMU is giving up 44.5 points per game. If our offense doesn't score 50, I'll be disappointed. The 2-6 Army Black Knights (averaging 24 pts/game) scored 58 on EMU in Ypsi. Army's other win: 21-14 over FCS Bucknell...and they have a 35-37 loss to FCS Fordham.

The other MAC West powers scored 63 (Toledo) and 49 (NIU) against the Eaglets. So unless you think EMU is gonna go ham and score 60 points on us, well.....feel free to bet on the Hurons!

I can see it unfolding like the Miami game.

EMU, in that chilly, damp echo chamber Thursday night, makes it interesting for a half, as they play above their heads like they often do against their in-state opponents. Then we pull away after halftime.

1Q - EMU 10 WMU 7
2Q - WMU 17 EMU 17
3Q - WMU 27 EMU 17
F - WMU 40 EMU 24

It runs counter to the common thought but the empty stadium at emu home games is their x-factor that some how gives them an edge. Opposing teams just cant get geeked playing in front of no one and the game has the feel of a scrimmage....a real crazy dynamic that takes a bit of mental preparation from the opposing team. I would think you can loose your focus if not careful. WMU probably draws more fans for their spring game.

RE: Broncos 20.5 Point Favorites
ESPN has it marked as us favorites by 20. It's lowering. Who knows. By Thursday it could be only 8! 03-wink

EASTERN STATISTICS:

PASSING: Good completion % (63%), partially due to their effective running game to mix things up but also not doing anything crazy on passing (6.5 yds/pass). High INT %. 11 TD, 11 INT. Their secondary QB (Bell) can run when let lose to gain some yards (3.6 y/c), their normal starter (Roback) really doesn't (0.9 y/c).

RUSHING: They're good at rushing. Their main guy Jackson has 12 TDs, averaging 5.5 yds a carry. Their secondary QB Vann averages 6.3 yds a carry with about half the attempts (5 TDs).

KICKING: Pretty decent FG kicker. Never missed an XP (25/25). Has missed a couple 30-something-yarders out of 4 attempts, but is 2/2 within the 40-49, and 2/3 in the 50+ range. Expect them to kick some FGs against us.

OFFENSIVELY: 27.4 pts a game. They're not powerful, but they are certainly NOT anemic. If you have a weak D, they'll put points on you. They played LSU, Toledo, and NIU already -- and scored 20+ points on each.

DEFENSE PASSING: Folks throw 59.1% against them, and even though that isn't a great %, it averages 2TD, 0INT for 181.3 yds a game (only nabbed 1 INT in its 8 games).... on about 7.3 yards/passing attempt.

DEFENSE RUSHING: Folks average 6.6 yards a carry against them, with 30 TDs in 8 games (3.75TDs/game). People like to Eat Them Up on rushing. EMU gives up 340.5 rushing yards a game! That's where people go. Their Pass D isn't that bad, but their Rush D is.

DEFENSIVELY: 44.5 pts a game. We should expect to score around 40-ish.

Expect our running game to do well, to get the two of RBs to have 150+ yards this game... and Terrell to only throw for 200-ish yards, due to some rain and the heavy push for running.

Due to it being a running game both ways eating up clock, I'd be surprised if we broke into 50pts without the help of EMoo turnovers. I expect to score a little over 40. Maybe some sloppiness on our parts helps EMU score more than we want them to.

Do they play a match up zone too? That would be the final nail in the coffin! Ahhhh

Dr. Fleckenstien will have to give the team a few extra volts of motivation to keep their heads in the game!!!

I see this game being closer than it should due to 25 mph winds.

EMU can thank Al Roker.

Looks likely it'll just be wind, no rain.

Good. I had enough rain last Saturday. Not like a brief drenching, and then you're sitting there soaked, the rest of the game.
