No way in hell either school sends close to that. MU may send 10K, WVU maybe 15K.
I agree. last year I saw the championship game in Marshall and it didn't even look like a sell out. If they can't sell out the championship game at home, I doubt they would send 25k to a bowl game.
Dude, do realize what the weather was like that day???

I remember that the weather was bad and I'm sure that that was a factor. Still, to suggest that 25k would travel to a bowl game in Dallas is a bit much.

Agree. Perhaps 10... There is a pretty good reason that we travel well to FL. First, it's FL...and second, there are obscenely cheap flights out of Huntington to several destinations in FL.

I would say bit much too, in fact borderline delusional. To suggest that Marshall, who had 23k for the CUSA championship game, would sell out the Cotton Bowl is hilarious

RE: Bowl projections 10-25-15
In all seriousness though, you can't really blame the poor attendance on us. That weather was evil. I was there, I know. That being said, we notoriously have a fair weather and fickle fan base. It was a shame to see all of the empty seats, but when it's cold and rainy and the game is on tv, attendance is going to take a hit, I don't care what G5 team you are.

RE: Bowl projections 10-25-15
Any bowl game that is not with in short driving range on Christmas day is going to be a hard sell for any of us no matter who we played.
a couple of things play into it
1. finding a extra $1000 that people can afford to spent
2. Families with smaller children is mostly out of the mix. Lets see Santa vs a football game shown on TV ... Santa will win 95% of the time
If any one of our fanbases could find 25,000 fans that could afford to spend a extra $1,000 on a football game at Christmas...80% of those shouldn't have any problem being season ticket holders.
Not one of us has 20,000 season ticket holders. Hell I doubt if any of us reaches 12,000 and for most 10.5k would be a record.
I hope like hell Western chooses Fla...if we have a choice. Christmas morning in Dallas would put 1000 to 1500 Topper fans in the stadium. Maybe.

I hope USM doesn't get the N.O. Bowl...but being bowl eligible would be nice.

The only reason I hope we wouldn't get the N.O. bowl is because it means we are conference champs and headed to Dallas to play a P5 team....but that would be the only reason

Here's the CFN take:
New Mexico: Middle Tennessee versus Colorado State
New Orleans: Louisiana Tech versus Appalachian State
Miami: Florida International versus Cincinnati
Bahamas: Marshall versus Bowling Green
St. Petersburg: Western Kentucky versus Memphis
Dallas: Rice versus Kansas State
Arizona: Southern Mississippi versus San Diego State

I can't see Rice as getting the honor of playing a P5 team over the likes of LaTech, WKU, or even us for that matter...Unless, of course, they are predicting Rice to win CUSA.. Then that is a whole different ball game.

I'm pretty sure he's picking WKU to win C-USA and choosing to play a likely rated Memphis team in St. Petersburg. He has Houston in the Access Bowl, meaning Memphis was probably 11-1. Makes sense.
After that, I am not sure. He probably does think both Rice and Louisiana Tech beat Southern Miss. Does Rice beat Louisiana Tech for the West, or does Dallas choose not to extend a second straight invitation to the same team?

Arizona is going to be the last choice of all teams. The game currently does not have a TV partner.

Already have rules in place.

The lack of research done speaks volumes to how useless these bowl projection articles actually are
If Marshall somehow wins the C-USA Championship, there is a very good chance it will be MU v. WVU in Dallas. Not the best opponent out there, but this is a possibility.
I bet the HOD bowl is hoping for Texas or Texas Tech and a CUSA West school. I don't know how many people from West Virginia would want to spend Christmas in Dallas. Illinois didn't bring many last year.
Agreed. I think the HOD Bowl has got to go to the CUSA West team. I think the HOD Bowl would prefer that too.
Marshall would travel more than you have for a home game if we got the HoD bowl vs WVU. That game would be a sell out. Pretty sure IF we win cusa and if WVU is 6-6, thatll be the game they set up. They would be stupid not too. Wvery flight to texas would be booked within a 3 hour radius of WV.
I assure you Marshall won't win CUSA.

LA Tech traveled between 20K and 25K last year to the HOD Bowl in Dallas, and the weather was wet and rainy.
