If this was a valid reason, then any OCS UAB might build would have to be a major improvement over any alternative venue (Legion Field, the MPF or the smaller BJCC stadium that has been mentioned) that we could be using at that time. As long as UAB doesn't have that OCS, it can use the other venue for such "official visits".

OK. NCAA rules allow recruits on an official visit to attend entertainment events within 30 miles of campus. Therefore UAB needs no special waiver to use the downtown FACILITIES for recruiting purposes even with a separate stadium on campus. Any comparison to the rural institution of tractor repair and cosmetology, famed for alcohol poisoning and animal abuse, is therefore irrelevant.

Add to it the fact that several times over the years UAB played a hoops game at the BJCC so that the facility could be considered as a site for the NCAA tournament.

One can't deal with the football history of B'ham without dealing with Bama since it was the main tenant of Legion Field for its first 60 to 70 years and the main reason it was enlarged to its maximum capacity. Just because of bitterness over the way the BOT has acted towards UAB does not justify such responses that are so "Bammerish" in nature.

We are on a UAB message board. Bama is literally the last thing we want to read about on a daily basis. You don't merely mention bama from time to time, you repeat the same tired facts about them that none of us care about.
