Our grandkids will see an OCS stadium, maybe, but not us or our kids.
Again, the BJCC solves the immediate problems, but don't be fooled. Our generation lost the OCS battle.
And in the grand scheme of life (which is what happens while we're busy making plans to live by), I'm good with that.

I'm amused that we continue to bicker about this when I'm pretty damn sure the OCS was every single person here's first choice.
By all means, if I'm mistaken, raise your hand if, all other things being equal, you'd prefer the BJCC stadium.

I agree. Everyone I believe has stated their views on this subject and it's time to move on from it. I'm definitely done with it.

After months of frustration over discontinuance/reinstatement and before that, several years of frustration over refusal of OCS, I have finally concluded that UAB Football can be every bit as successful in brand new Uptown Stadium as it would have been in an OCS, maybe even more successful.
No more bellyaching from TheGORILLA. Construction of new on campus football practice and athletic facilities is going to be fantastic. A new stadium Uptown is going to be awesome. I can't wait to see it all come together.

So does this mean we won't see any more pictures of the ocs from you?
On another note, when we start talking about our grandchildren of great grand children, I'm not even sure how relevant football will be in society by then. Sports that flourished in the past have lost mainstream appeal. It's hard to envision it because football is such a huge part of our society, but my guess is the game in 50 years will at best be played by some very different rules.

RE: BBJ: A stadium at the BJCC? Weighing its pros and cons versus the dome
When Bama pulled its major games out of Legion Field, one of its stated reasons was a new NCAA rule against using off campus venues for "official recruiting visits" if a school had an OCS (like Denny or Hare).
If this was a valid reason, then any OCS UAB might build would have to be a major improvement over any alternative venue (Legion Field, the MPF or the smaller BJCC stadium that has been mentioned) that we could be using at that time. As long as UAB doesn't have that OCS, it can use the other venue for such "official visits".

Just for funzies, I'd like to see him go to a Tuscaloosa campus board and bring up UAB in ANY context and watch the reaction he gets.

RE: BBJ: A stadium at the BJCC? Weighing its pros and cons versus the dome
Just for "funzies", I would like for some to deal with the point of the example rather than go off with the knee-jerk response to the mere mention of Bama.
One can't deal with the football history of B'ham without dealing with Bama since it was the main tenant of Legion Field for its first 60 to 70 years and the main reason it was enlarged to its maximum capacity. Just because of bitterness over the way the BOT has acted towards UAB does not justify such responses that are so "Bammerish" in nature.
