Quote:You guys looked good against MSU, and we got beat like a rented mule.
You guys did. Like a redheaded step-child -- but one of the keys is that you guys also contributed to your own beating. 5 turnovers! Your QB isn't going to throw 4 INTs and throw SO poorly. I predict 1 INT at most, and throwing around 50%, as your running game will be more effective (and motivated at your home opener after last week) to make that a less pressurized situation. Your QB isn't going to be throwing much of course, especially after last week (unless we get to a huge lead or something). I predict he'll throw 4/8, 0-1 INT (not 2/13 4 INT), most for somewhat short passes for the sake of shaking things up once or twice, but mainly to get a 1st down.
Quote:I think our Offense gets in a little more of a groove this week and we put up some points, and I like what I see out of the D, but it may not be enough.
Your D didn't let WV run all over you, true. You kept them at 4.6yds/carry -- Good. Especially with a new QB at WV. Of course, they had a mixed passing/running game. 16/25 on WV's QB's first game, for 359 yards though. Expect WMU's Terrell to be licking his chops at that. And against MSU, he showed he knows how to handle rush-the-QB pressure Very Well.
Quote:If our offensive line get can their stuff together and we can run up the middle a little, we might have a chance.
My prediction is that you'll run the ball pretty well against us. Very well in many situations, but WMU will squeeze you in tight to force FGs. But you'll be getting around 6 yards a carry during the game, not around 3 and a half like against WV. It will all come down to WMU's offense and how much time we can give our D a rest. We had more time of possession against MSU -- and that wasn't due to turning the ball over all the time to make them score quick or anything. We know how to soak up clock.
All in all, you have MORE than just "a chance". You'll run well against us, but WMU will stop you guys many times where it counts, but you'll run away with some of it. WMU will pass well against you, allowing our running game to do OK against you, allowing us to soak up clock to give our run defenders some rest... but again, we won't be making you guys go 3-and-out At All. You'll be getting several first downs on Every drive, and won't have much trouble getting into our territory.
- Can GASouthern be held to FGs moreso than TDs? (bend but don't break so much)
- Can WMU light them up thru the air, also opening up the running game?
- Can WMU at least get SOME stops to force GAS to punt, or hold them to under 6 yards a carry?
- Can GASouthern play mistake-free in the pass that'll be thrown in there a bit, to help burn WMU?
I don't expect GAS to be a totally different team. Just one that's going to have 1, *maybe* 2 turnovers the whole game -- and able to run the ball better on top of it. That combo, at home in Georgia, will make a big difference for GASouthern.
