RE: The Fightin' Cubits lookin good
A lot of that has to do with turnovers.

Illinois has some work to do on offense, but, it's the first game, post-Beckman-drama, so playing Kent State and getting all those turnovers is a good thing.

But if KSU has a good D as many have suspected, it's not bad at all for a first game post-Beckman-fiasco.

Illini QB Lunt: 11/19, 4 TDs, 0 INTs (other QBs: 0/5, 1 INT)
Illini Running: 29 for 112 yards, 3.9 yards a carry

All of Illinois first half drives started inside Kent State's 40 yard line from what I have read, so those stats are a bit misleading.

They capitalized when they had to, drove as far as they needed when they had to as well.

Defense had KSU stifled.

I was referring to this comment:

Quote:But if KSU has a good D as many have suspected, it's not bad at all for a first game post-Beckman-fiasco.

You can't get a good read of how good their defense is when the entire first half is played on their side of the field and their opponent scores 45.

Yeah they've really stifled that 116th nationally ranked offense.

The bar is being set real high in Champaign this year. BCS or bust. The hype train is real.

No I didn't. I am going on what I have read on the MAC board and here. But, if you can definitively say and prove that Kent State somehow has this great defense despite the fact they played the entire first half in their own end of the field and their opponent scored 45 points, then I'm all ears. Until then, call me when they play Bowling Green and their west division opponents.

Don't question Grubby's opinion. He said "he read it" so it has to be right.

Regardless of KSU's stature, who happened to be who they were playing and is a D1 team, they were hitting after they worked it out. I watched. Three pics, three scores on the first play after.

That would be the second half when most if not all the starters and second string is sitting on the bench. With a 45-0 lead.

They scored three times after they were up 45-0 huh?

I feel bad for Bill. He has to do these post game pressers on BTN as opposed to with Monty Porter. He's having to scrape by on 900k a year, and he still hasn't had the thrill of losing to his designated cupcake OOC opponent. He still might make it in college football if he can just come up with a catchy slogan.

I feel like getting "bringbackbeckman.com" -- to give a false illusion of Illini fans wanting Beckman back. And for Beckman to feel wanted - lol.
