Not everyone who moves back home is a loser. Not everyone who moves back home is a winner. Down economy, ****** job force/market, student loans all time high, cultural differences, moving, breakups, time post graduating, sick family... hundreds of reasons people live at home.

Plenty of real life experiences can be had while staying at home just as plenty (different) experiences can be had moving on. The condemnatory comments in this thread are mind bogglingly judgemental and assumnatory.

Before you ask, no, I did not move home after graduating. I got a job and paid my own rent. I have had friends move home after graduating while they pass licensing exams and they are better for it. Frankly, what other people choose to do is none of my business and I dont pretend to be better than someone else based on living situation.

Wrong, while it is certainly their choice (or their parents' anyway) they should be shamed as should their parent(s).

lol, not playing this game. You brought up the crazy notion first so this is your baby. Anyway, projecting the later years on a 20 year old doesn't make much sense. I can definitely see folks staying home a little longer than normal to pay off debt and save some money. Now, they shouldn't live rent free, but that's a different conversation.

LOL of course.

Yup. No sexism, mysogyny in these posts. Nope. Not antiquated at all. Total 21st century conversation.

Feel free to raise your daugter to be a slut, if you can produce any, which I suspect you cannot. I'm going to try to raise mine to be a lady that is courted ny a marketable man that she works with as a team to raise him up, not bring him down.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone use the word "courted" to describe dating. I've read it in books.

1. The idea that your priority is for your daughter to find "the guy" to complete herself rather than a career or venture is archaic

2. The idea that girls will be girls and boys need to become men is archaic

3. The idea that a girl having a healthy sex life makes her poor marriage material is archaic. Also the idea that she should have to cater to YOUR wishes on her suitors, again, archaic

Sounds like you're raising quite the little subservient dishwasher.

agree with #1 and #3, disagree on #2, men do need to become men. It is an issue. However, this is America, he has every right to raise his daughter with whatever rules he wants as long as they are not illegal.

It was less an issue with men becoming men and more of an issue of girls not needing to become women. The reality is both need to become adults and we should stop differentiating what that means based off antiquated gender ideologies. Assigning gender roles is 1940s rhetoric.

he may have worded it the way you interpreted, but that's not what he's saying.....

he's preaching respect and humility from within....both in self and how a partner is chosen....

RE: Yo Millennials, Move In With Your Parents And You’ll Lose At Life
Archaic is fine with me. If my daughter winds up like most of the young women I was running around with 15 years ago and racking up a large notch count, I will be sorely disappointed. And I can't imagine it has gotten any better either. If I am doing something different or "archaic", that is probably a good thing. I am fine with a career or a housewife, but she will learn how to be a lady (and hopefully take it with her).

that was solved by equal rights, correct....

or does the gp still view women and men differently....

you're going off on another tangent....

disclaimer: we all know equal rights is still evolving.....but you have to be careful what you wish for.....flippin' da switch is just silly talk....
