Correction, MU42 is something else. Predicting an undefeated season with at best, a JMU QB transfer that is average at best based on all our available data, and losing most of your DL and LB and our best CB.
I think 9 or 10 wins would be fantastic this year and a showdown with WKU for the east. Expecting an undefeated season last year was reasonable, and almost happened. This year, is just ridiculous.
You must be stuck in 2005 instead of 2015. We don't play UCF anymore we play FIU, we don't play ECU anymore we play Charlotte, we don't play Houston anymore we play North Texas.
Those 3 I just named along with Norfolk St, Kent St, So Miss, and ODU are virtual slam dunks. That is 7 wins right there. So what you are saying is that we will lose 3 of the following 5 games, Purdue, Ohio, FAU, MTSU, and WKU. We are already favored by 15 over Purdue, we will likely be a double digit favorite over Ohio, FAU, and MTSU as well. However those last 3 are on the road. I just don't see a potential loss until Black Friday again. Call me crazy.
So you are seeing no problem what so ever playing WKU, MTSU or FAU on the road with a new QB. Pass along what ever you are smoking we could use some. I don't much about Purdue or the Bobkittens but FAU, Middle and Western are all good and they are getting you at home. I can see Marshall dropping two of the three with you fresh QB.
I don't know if you think we are starting a freshman qb or what, but while yes we do have a new starting qb he is also a redshirt junior transfer that started for two years at James Madison. Yeah sure JMU is no qbu but your point is that we will be playing those 3 teams on the road with a new qb, however he will have somewhere around 25 starts under his belt when we go to Boca Raton, and at or above 30 starts when we play MTSU and WKU. Not to mention the best RB, Oline, and receivers in the conference. Maybe the best Defense too.
Ok we aren't Ohio State, Alabama, or Oregon, but since 1997 there is one current non p5 school that has been better than us no doubt and that is Boise. NIU has owned the MAC recently, but the MAC is the MAC, the sun belt has no one worth naming, and that leaves the AAC which has UCF, ECU, and Cincinnati but Cincy benefited from the BE for a few years. I would contend that since 1997 we are the second best non p5 school there is, and unfortunatly for ODU, FIU, FAU, Charlotte, and others we got left behind because of a small market and a few down years. We will likely be pounding on mostly everyone for years to come, and you don't realize it. The teams I listed are our new Akrons, Kent Sts, Buffalos, and EMUs that we beat on for 8 years. And even when we are down, which will be rare, we will most likely still win 8 games with the current conference makeup.
Any Herd fan that says otherwise is either trying to be polite or scared to say it for fear of the Snyder era creeping back.
