Biggest take home message I had again, second year in a row .... for all the "buzz" about the supposed Atlanta media market I saw zero news/internet presence at media days and was somewhat surprised that Cobb didn't attend.
I know that they probably were all tapped out from the ESPY's travel, but it would seem that a team/program that is really needing some breakthrough attendance marks would be doing everything possible to rally up some support for this season.
Maybe next year, but I figure Miles has to make light of what is a very tenuous situation for him if they don't win early.
Miles knows another bad season could really hurt that program, and be the end of his employment at the school.
If you listen to the natives, their demands are bordering on the unrealistic for the condition of their program.
It's year 3. Win or get out.
Not even a full recruiting cycle. And when he walked in the cupboard wasn't even halfway stocked.
Good luck finding a coach worth a damn if you cut Miles loose. No one will want to take the risk with only 3 years to extinguish that dumpster fire.
My passing thoughts on it as well... what did they expect? That situation is brutal. Cut him loose in three years and who actually worthy of a HC job would take it on knowing they had 3 years and a downward spiral to correct? Let him have the 4 years, and then evaluate. Continuity may be just what the program needs.
I would say he needs to pull at least 2 wins out this year to remain. With three years under his belt, there's no reason he can't beat an FCS team, and realistically... at least one other game.
With the resources at his disposal, I don't think asking for 2 wins 3 years into his tenure is too much to ask.

If he wins six games like some are saying he must, they should sign him to a ten year deal, he will have worked miracles in three years.
If so. who do you sell a suite to in a new stadium ...in Atlanta. All the best with that theory.
I am perfectly ok with doing what Houston did as well and letting him go regardless and going in a different direction.
I can see why the fans don't like him, his comments are off-putting, but he has turned about a similar program.
Cobb is a football guy, whether Miles wins 2, 4, or 6 games he will know if the team is headed in the right direction. While he made some questionable hires at App he is looking pretty good on the football side. The fans were calling for Moore's head in 2005 after a 6-5 season, but he kept Moore and lit a fire in the program. Then in 2012 not renewing Moore's contract and hiring Satterfield, that was a very tough and unpopular decision at that time, we are in a much better spot today because of that move. Keeping Miles on one more year with only 3-4 wins may be unpopular but it will not touch the level of unpopular prior decisions he made.
I think we'll see GA St. be competitive in a lot more conference games through 3 quarters or so, and winning a couple, which will be a marked improvement, if we don't I agree it would be time to move on.

The Ted is the x factor and a big one. And everyone knows it to the point that they are already hint hint wink wink selling us on it.
The other side of what youre saying is that Cobb didnt hire Miles and likely has no loyalty to him. A lot will depend on the general feeling around the program come December. If the general feeling is that there is little progress then I can see a Houston type change. The Ted project is way too important.
