This whole thing is getting very weird. Austin wants to resign from the team...so here is what he does
1. He stops going to meetings.
2 He actually never resigns because he does not have the baXXs to go see the coach face to face like a man to resign.
3. He does not have the courtesy to even let the AD know.
4. At this point, as best I can tell, no one knows the reason why he is resigning...if in fact he really is.
5. He is asking for a release through THE MEDIA??? What is that all about?

Frankly, I am losing all respect for the kid because he needs to grow up and start acting like he has a brain.

I think it's human nature to "do unto others as you perceive they have done unto you" -- takes a lot of grace not to. My guess is, that's why Josh is being a prick about granting the release. He is not taking it well, and who could blame him for feeling that way (not necessarily agreeing with his response, but at least understanding his disappointment.)

On the other hand, for Austin to just blow off his whole stint as a Tiger without even being willing to go through the motions of a meeting where he could have offered any lame excuses he chose as his reasons seems to me an amazing level of apathy toward the whole thing. I guess a season like he just endured didn't do anything to improve his overall impression of life as a basketball Tiger, and the girlfriend situation . . . yeah, young people don't always make the most thought-out, rational decisions.

Either way, I wish Austin well wherever he ends up. I hate that it ended this way, but it's his life, and he can do what he wants. That's one of the great things about living in America. And Josh has done another good job of assembling talent. Let's just acquiesce and see where it takes us this time. If you're a Tiger basketball fan, what else is there?

I see no way he could just put the word out and not meet with the coach, you just can't do that.
