Another blog about OSU and NIU (and WMU)
A well written blog previewing the OSU and NIU game as well as the OSU game with WMU. Overall I think this is a pretty good article

http://trove.com/a/Ohio-State-faces-the-...7F01007380

I found it interesting that OSU is 23-0 against the MAC and only 3 times have they not won by double digits. Time for a MAC team to get a win (NIU)!!! Not that I believe we will win - but I can dream!

I count OSU as 22-1 vs the MAC, Toledo beat Ohio State a few years back but the refs overturned the game result basically. The refs made sure Ohio State won the game. Really one of the only games I can say that the refs single-handedly determined the outcome of a football game.

That 2002 game should have never even been that close, to even allow that finish. Sheldon fumbled at one point on the 5 yard line, and we kept settling for FGs. We totally dominated that game and still lost. That was one of the most frustrating games I ever watched.

Being 3-0 vs the Big 10 the past 2 seasons will get you respect. If the rest of the conference won some of their games the MAC would be looked upon in a much more favorable light

I think he may be referring to the 1992 game when NIU went for 2 pt conversion close to the end of the game. The refs NIU did not score but replays clearly showed NIU has scored which would have won them the game.

Not sure, if you recall the 2002 game included 3 phantom penalties at the end of the game that allowed Wisconsin to score the winning TD.

That's the game I was referring to. Those penalties handed Wisconsin the game. I mean, heaven forbid a lowly MAC team should beat the mighty Badgers! I was never so flaming mad in my life. I can't say what I wanted to do to those refs. But, if even a little of my prayers and wishes came true, those refs paid the price!

You have it opposite. Wisconsin was trailing 17 to 3. They scored 2 late TDs to pull within 17-16. They went for the 2 pt conversion to win. Darrell Bevell kept it on a stretch play to the pylon. He began sliding at the 2 and slid into the endzone. Of course, once his knee hit at the 2 the play should have been blown dead. The refs ruled the conversion was good and Wisconsin won 18-17.

RE: Another blog about OSU and NIU (and WMU)
Yeah, OSU coming away unscathed definitely has had its luck involved. If every year had this year's OOC-MAC schedule, there's no way in hell they'd be undefeated against the MAC (nor any B1G team).

Not that NIU & WMU is any potential "upset alert" marker. A low-end/mild "upset alert" would require OSU to be around the bottom of the rankings, not #1 in the country.

It's funny how their OOC-MAC schedules have had luck on their side. Of ALL the years to have a freaking tough OOC-MAC schedule, it's a year they're basically preseason #1. Not some mediocre year being #15 or something.

But hey, luck's been good to them thus far -- how about luck turning it's ugly head after a already-won-national-championship hangover? :)

Timber me shivers, what's the pointy point of this article?

Does we thinks our husky Huskies is better then them Kent State boys that Ohioey State beat last year? Probably, Juicy knows. Does we thinks our husky Huskies is good enough to beat them pesky Buckeye types in Columbustown? Probably not, Juicy knows.

There you is - his entire article in one small, small paragraph.

Hire Juicy. He will write your blog.

What would the guess be for the initial point spread , I was thinking somewhere in the 28-30 range for OSU, and NIU 5 or 6 point dogs @ BC

Or maybe slightly more than 30 points, not so flattering a result on whatifsports.com

Well if OSU is 59 points better than Wisc, maybe 71 is not too far off. If it was Tressel I would feel more comfortable in a reasonable score because he at least was good about calling off the dogs. Meyer likes to embarrass people.

I think it will probably end up much like the Razorback score from last year.

Okay, so imagine (which shouldn't be that hard) if OSU isn't QUITE as good as last year, in terms of being in a funk, in the OOC part of the year. They have a championship hangover, QB issues/battles... takes a while to gel.

So I simulated 2014 NIU (who will be better in 2015) VS 2013 OSU, who was a "mere" 12-2 on the season:

Not so distant, eh? :)
