RE: Recruits for 2016-2017
VerbalCommits indicates that we've offered 6'7"PF Kyvon Davenport of Georgia Highlands C.C. He averaged 14 ppg, 9 rpg, and 3 bpg as a freshman last season at Georgia Highlands: http://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2015-16...enport40pn
From the highlight below he appears to be a bouncy, athletic, and long forward with an active motor. He holds at least a dozen or so midmajor offers to date.

RE: Recruits for 2016-2017
Davenport reminds me just a tad of a larger Tandy, but with slightly less hops per height, and without the outside range. And maybe a small tad of English. Or maybe a poor man's version of Kenneth Faried (although Faried did take a couple of years to come into his full bad self). The motor aspect is especially comparable to Faried.

Like the looks of Davenport quite a bit better than Fisher, although it's a pretty hard to really judge accurately on those tapes, as the comp is quite weak on both. And something must be wrong on that stats page - only 4.2 minutes per game?!? (Equates to 135.1 pts./40 min, as per the bottom line on that page.)

I'm betting we can't land Davenport, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

It seemed Bartow favored recruiting those players in the 6'2'' to 6'4'' range. Coach Forbes seems to favor those same athletes in the 6'7'' to 6'9'' range.

RE: Recruits for 2016-2017
Davenport looks like the kind of player I want to see coming in next year. We'll need a frontcourt spark to remain competitive. Verbal Commits has him at 6'8 as a JUCO, contrasting with 6'7 per the seemingly HS clip. Every extra inch is meaningful to me when talking difference between a SF that likes to play big vs. an able bodied PF.

We'll need immediate bigs from JUCO or DI transfer with eligibility to start. I don't expect we can land a HS stud ready to start, unless something wild and crazy happens in March. REALLY like the first impression of Davenport.

I like Davenport a great deal, too. I also like that he's fiery.

Suspended from Appy:

Good suspended

Sounds temporary, but we know that can go either way....

That didn't take long. Wonder if anyone at ETSU saw this coming. Doubt it, but the season is barely half over.

Dude is playing fantastic for a freshman though. He could have definitely helped our outside shooting.

You may want to move that to the 2017-2018 thread. Just a suggestion, 'cause it would fit in better with the other McClung info.

Mac McClung's sister plays/played soccer for the voles. Not sure if she has graduated.
