He is just a normal transfer so I couldn't see anyway he wouldn't have to sit out.

Rod's right: He played this past season at Longwood so he will have to sit out his season.

Now we have a Jedi Knight. We should be out of this world next year.

RE: Recruits for 2016-2017
Per his Twitter account, Mr .Tennessee "Bo Hodges" has committed to the Bucs. This is a GREAT pickup! He reportedly holds a Memphis offer.

The Tennessean and USA Today have also picked up this verbal commitment from twitter. Tennessee 'AA' Mr. Basketball, 23.4 points and 14.3 rebounds as a Junior, with a solid looking 6'3" 190 high major frame. Great start, and hopefully will encourage others, starting some momentum. Although muscle and shooting is there, he does not seem to have 'finish above the rim' athleticism.

RE: Recruits for 2016-2017
Excellent get! He kind of reminds me of Desonta, same type frame (Desonta is 6'4 190)

Also, the tweet that Bo posted, does anyone know where that mark jones quote came from about Freedom Hall?

RE: Recruits for 2016-2017
Judging from the highlights (always risky), Hodges looks to me like more of a power player - at 6'3" he's already a well muscled 194 and also plays football. Desonta came in as a fairly skinny freshman at 6'4" 185 - in high school he was probably closer to 175, 20 pounds less than Hodges on a longer frame. Hodges uses his power to muscle through the lane, and his big frame and excellent body control to shield his shot from defenders, mostly finishing with layups at or below the rim, although he can and does throw it down when the opportunity presents. Desonta relies more on quickness and explosive leaping to get free. He tends to finish more above the rim. Hodges shot and finishing ability look awfully good, but then, compare Desonta in high school:

Bo Hodges got 23.1 points on 58%, 41% from 3, 15.3 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 6.7 steals, 4.3 blocks, 0.9 t.o.'s as a Junior and was 'AA' Mr Basketball
Desonta got 21.4 points on 53%, 41% from 3, 7.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, as a Senior and was 'A' Mr. Basketball.

If you don't think the numbers are real: http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/bo-hodge...-stats.htm
and http://www.etsubucs.com/mbasketball/rost...-bradford/
But it is smaller school ball - and Hodges is described in one article as "a big fish in a little pond". Still a terrific get - as Desonta shows, some fish do just fine in bigger ponds, too.

RE: Recruits for 2016-2017
Hodges seems like a steal to me. Those are gaudy numbers at any level. I remember Mike Smith was largely ignored because of producing big-time numbers in the small pond of Vandalia, MO. I also really like the fact that Hodges, like Mike Smith before him, plays football. I bet Hodges loves to compete and has the toughness to win. All speculative of course, but I think he has the raw materials to be special.

As good a signee as Hodges is, it's worth remembering that next year the Buc's biggest returning players will be 6'6" 200 David Burrell and 6'4" 190 Desonta Bradford.

Jurkin, Hanner, Banks and Glass will all be gone.

It's pretty clear where recruiting needs to focus.

Is there an ongoing effort to get Jurkin another year of eligibility? Or, has that been asked and answered?

Bo Hodges FOOTBALL highlights. Check out this kid's agility, hands, and athleticism. What a stud.

Great muscle, body control, hands. He's a stud. Maybe just a little short on top end speed and acceleration. I've seen guys like Paul Warfield, Mario Manningham and Maurice Clarett in high school. When they hit the secondary, they usually found another gear and were gone, even against high quality competition. Bo doesn't usually pull away like that, at least in these highlights. But that's a very high standard. Bo is still VERY impressive.

Not to be snarky in the least, but shouldn't the Hodges material be in a new thread: "Recruits for 2017-2018"? Just asking....

lol I posted that several pages ago, it isn't so bad now, but a few months ago when people were posting about the current class plus next years it was confusing.

Cory Evans of Hoopseen reports that we've offered Stefan Fisher, a 6'8" HS senior from Oldsmar, FL.
