Judging from the highlights (always risky), Hodges looks to me like more of a power player - at 6'3" he's already a well muscled 194 and also plays football. Desonta came in as a fairly skinny freshman at 6'4" 185 - in high school he was probably closer to 175, 20 pounds less than Hodges on a longer frame. Hodges uses his power to muscle through the lane, and his big frame and excellent body control to shield his shot from defenders, mostly finishing with layups at or below the rim, although he can and does throw it down when the opportunity presents. Desonta relies more on quickness and explosive leaping to get free. He tends to finish more above the rim. Hodges shot and finishing ability look awfully good, but then, compare Desonta in high school:
Bo Hodges got 23.1 points on 58%, 41% from 3, 15.3 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 6.7 steals, 4.3 blocks, 0.9 t.o.'s as a Junior and was 'AA' Mr Basketball
Desonta got 21.4 points on 53%, 41% from 3, 7.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, as a Senior and was 'A' Mr. Basketball.
If you don't think the numbers are real:

But it is smaller school ball - and Hodges is described in one article as "a big fish in a little pond". Still a terrific get - as Desonta shows, some fish do just fine in bigger ponds, too.
