Buffalo transfer Shannon Evans has committed to Arizona State, sources told CBSSports.com on Friday.

Evans must sit out next season per NCAA rules, but he will have two years of eligibility remaining.

An explosive guard, Evans averaged 15.4 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds last year when current Sun Devils coach Bobby Hurley was at Buffalo.

Wow.

Sucks in a big way but I think Bearden is up to the task of taking over. I just wonder who takes his role as the second guard next season.

I'm shocked Bearden isn't heading to Arizona St as well. Highly rated recruit last year....made significant progress as the season went on...and could use a RS year to put on some weight/muscle.

Shannon was one of the few guys that wasn't recruited by Oats. He was recruited by the old staff and then Hurley himself when he got the job.

I think Bearden and his family are much closer to Oats and that is why he should be sticking around
