The biggest thing we need to be concerned with at this point is finally breaking that BCS/Access Bowl ceiling. The short-term rewards are obvious, big money, extra bowl, media attention, etc.. The long term rewards are that the profile of the conference makes a dramatic up turn, the school involved would more than likely increase its chances of getting a non-cusa bowl if available in subsequent years. Boise making 2 BCS bowls while in the WAC helped their program more than anything else. It gave them legitimacy. It helped them get last years Fiesta Bowl as well, because Marshall was a far better team IMHO. If we can just get a few Access Bowls amongst a few of our top teams, our profile would shoot through the roof.

Not trying to start any trash talking or offend anyone, but you can't have actually typed that without laughing at it. Boise would have absolutely beat Marshall like a red headed step child. And I'm even willing to admit that marshall was definitely the second best Go5 team by a decent margin. (by the way, late congrats on the great season Marshall fans. Also I would like to wish everyone good luck in stomping the nUTSAcks in the face next season 02-13-banana)

Rant over. Carry on and have a wonderful hump day! 04-cheers
I agree. Just look at the teams' schedules. Marshall is nothing compared to Boise! Sorry. I think they are still high off this past season and the fact they played no P5 competition and chose an easy opponent in the Bowl game! I think La Tech is the real winner of the Conference based off their schedule and who they beat in a Bowl game. I have a lot of respect for the Herd, but I would love to see them face more powerhouse teams! It would be cool to see Marshall vs Boise State AKA a Boise State team that beat Georgia, Oregon, TCU, VT, Utah, ASU, Arizona, BYU, Oregon State and many others!

What a reasonable ODU fan???? Good Post btw

Definitely think Boise was better than Marshall last year, Marshall had great year though

Nope. Marshall is the real winner of CUSA based off whom they beat in the championship game & being awarded the trophy that says so.

Nothing against Tech, but this particular argument was settled by the most indisputable means available.

Marshall won the conference and slipped up only 1 time to a Bowl team. Boise had a good season, but it still lost two games and played in a lesser conference this season as shown by the Conference Bowl record. Yes Boise beat Arizona in the Fiesta bowl, but whose to say Marshall wouldn't have too? I find it so odd, and I'm no Marshall fan, that the Herd was given so little credit after the Boca Raton Bowl simply because Boise was able to beat a vastly overrated Arizona team.

Marshall won the conference fair and square. They won it on the field by defeating Tech - there should be no argument who was the best in CUSA last year - Marshall was and still be the best team in CUSA until this December.

You're right, he must have been thinking about the AAC.

THE MWC was 3-4 in Bowls last season playing a similar Bowl schedule to CUSA which was 5-1. I don't see how my opinion isn't a valid point of view? Take away the typical ESPN assumptions and look at how the postseason turned out.

So by this logic, if the MWC had played bad MAC and Sun BElt schools, and had an undefeated record, and Conf USA had played 3 good P5 teams and two decent G5 teams, the MWC would be better by virtue of beating the bad schools in Bowls?

Good point, for us analysts. The public is more about winning, and soon forgets who you beat or lost to. In any case, whoever we face, we need to win. So do they. We did that better last year.
