And the reality is OVER half the NBA teams make the playoffs. And ours was blown out at home in the first round last year.

But but but they used to suck.

You really have no clue..

Remember when Crawford, Iverson, and King were late for the bus for a scrimmage and didn't get to make the trip. Maybe he is favoring Austin. At least he held the bus for him.

In this instance, not starting for being late to the team bus seems appropriate. But we have had waaaay too many game suspensions this year.

Can't disagree with any of this.

I don't disagree with that either, but when you are having so many suspensions, at some point you have to start questioning the leadership and culture.

Could you argue the opposite though and say that by sticking to his guns re: rules and expectations he's portraying good leadership? And the opposite of good leadership is changing the rules when they fit your need at the moment? Not arguing with you just saying the "leadership and culture" angle can be played both ways.

Sticking to ones guns is like having the courage of ones convictions is wholly dependent on what those convictions or guns are. Plenty of people have the courage to stick with their rules, only their rules might be asinine. (Not stating that that is/is not the case here)

Really?

Which if the above is incorrect?

Did the Grizzlies not used to suck? They did...it is true.
Do over half the NBA teams make the playoffs? Yes. 16/30.
Did Memphis have a home game six to advance but got blown out by OKC? They did.

So...it would seem I have a clue.

Saw another gem...why knock another team just to boost your? Really? Now THAT...and yours...show no clue.

Actually, I don't think I posed it as a question, but rather as a statement. I believe it was:

Not sure what part of that quantifies me as having no clue. I was just stating my opinion. If you disagree with my opinion, that's fine...I'm a grown up and can accept differing opinions gracefully. But I see no reason for you to say I have no clue just because you disagree with me.

If you've ever been stuck on a bus having to wait on someone that was late, you appreciate an incentive given to the tardy folks to be on time.

It was vs Baylor

This proves that Josh is learning. He didn't want to get his butt kicked again by leaving Austin behind like he did CC and the rest! 03-lmfao

Point was...was not knocking the Grizzlies in an effort to promote our university.

Was making a much more important point about the mouth breathers.

So you are correct. Assuming you are smart, you knew I was not giving real true but unfortunately negative facts about the grizzlies getting blown out etc...in an effort to build up OUR team. Off the hook.

I was not offering an opinion there anyway, just giving facts how they were embarrassed and blown out at home with a chance to advance, after making the playoffs, something that over half the NBA teams do every year.

Good point.

RE: Interesting column by Calkins about Coach Pastner's desciplining the players
I have never been a fan of keeping a player out of a game for a minor team’s rules violation. A major infraction yes, but a minor one?

What I hated was running an extra 2 miles after practice and considered this extremely cruel and inhumane punishment, lol. Another thing is the punishment for one may be ineffective for another. What if Jack McDowell was also late with Austin? While I hated mindless running other guy couldn’t stand pushups.

Also limiting a players PT hurts the entire team and can throw off the rotation & chemistry. In the military they make you sweat for your minor mistakes and don’t order you to remain in the barracks while the others head for the battlefield.

But hey I’m oldschool and believe me, sweat works.

Gary Parrish stated he had supported the Coach and his discipline methods. Why? Mentioned under Cal there was a constant stream of issues and in 6 years there has been NO major problems under Pastner, only really minor infractions. Gary said he has spoken with Barbee and Kellog who cannot believe Josh has done that well with the players in terms of behavior on/off the court.
