RE: Open Thread - 2015 Baseball Season
I watched all three ND/Georgia Tech games on ESPN3.

Tech has a good team, with good pitching depth and really good power hitters at three/four in the lineup.

ND (12-3, 1-2) beat Savannah State in a weekday game yesterday. It is at Clemson (8-7, 1-2) this weekend.

ND will not play its first home game until next week after 18 straight games on the road.

Such is life as a Northern college baseball team.

We beat USF 24-1 last week. It was the most runs we've scored since we put up a 37-spot against Ohio State in he 2009 NCAAT.

Wake beat Elon (at Elon) on Tuesday 25-12 with 6 HRs.
Inexplicably the Deacs turned around and lost to Elon at home on Wednesday 10-3.

Overall record stands at 12-6.

ND took two out of three at Clemson this weekend.

The Irish are 14-4 on the season. They will play their first home game of the season this coming Wednesday.

Not a bad overall ACC weekend for the Irish.

Clemson AD Dan Radakovich was at the baseball game today and got a bird's eye view of how far our baseball program has fallen in losing a series to a scrub like Notre Dame. Just have to make it to the end of the season and hopefully Jackleg is gone.

Planning on watching the ND-UofL game after our basketball game tonight. Is WatchND free or do I need a subscription?

It is free. Chuck Freeby (ND's announcer) is a friend of mine. He does a good job handling the play by play by himself on the radio, internet feed and WatchND video feed.

All three UL games on televised on WatchND this weekend. There is an app for it as well as a desktop link. My only complaint is they have no Chromecast capability, unlike WatchESPN.

Louisville has one hell of a pitcher. That was a very good game. 2-0, Cards.

ND's starter went 9 innings, giving up 7 hits, 2 earned runs, 0 walks and 5 strikeouts.....and he lost the game.

Hat's off to Louisville. That is a very good college baseball team.

You talking about Kyle Funkhouser? He is pretty good. Wish we still had Nick Burdi this year -- he was an amazing closer but I think he went pro after last year. His little brother is on team this year - don't know if he is as good yet or not.

Another good game (except for the score, lol) between ND and Louisville yesterday.

It went 18 innings, echoing the overtime basketball history between the two schools.

Louisville gets the sweep over ND. Off to a good start this year. Hopefully a 3rd straight trip to the CWS -- would be fantastic.

RE: Open Thread - 2015 Baseball Season
Clemson has one decent pitcher in Crownover and that's pretty much it. Friday night we tried to give the game away multiple times and VT simply wouldn't take it. Saturday we had our best game of the season as VT pitching was throwing batting practice the entire game. Today we tried to give VT the game and they screwed around until extra innings before they took it.

We'll be lucky to win 30 games and I fully expect us to either miss the ACC Tournament outright or be in one of the Tuesday play-in games. The only ACC series from here on out I expect to win is BC. Wake will be close, but their record is close to ours and besides them also taking 2 of 3 from VT their competition has been tougher with Miami and FSU instead of NC State and Notre Dame.

Hopefully DRad doesn't mess around at the end of this season with just a discussion with Jackleg and either promotes him into an administrative role so he can earn his state retirement there or if Jackleg resists he fires him. There is absolutely no reason why our baseball program should be in the shape it is currently in.

Clemson with / without Tim Corbin:

Tim Corbin was to Jack Leggett what Rich Rodriguez was to Tommy Bowden.
IMO.
