He lacked experience and he is getting it day by day. Unfortunately, I don't think it is fair to the Memphis fans to have to wait another 7 to 8 years for Josh to be a good coach.

Now, personally, I don't care if he is fired or stays on for those 8 more years, I just don't see Josh having much success here.

I usually never say never but I’ll go out on a limb and officially say Josh will NEVER be a good D1 level coach.

My advice to him is to find another occupation/skill/hobby/adventure/ect, and move on.

Hopefully, this prediction is right in line with your knowledge about everything else..which is ZERO.

Honestly Grant said Josh admitted he is missing two of the most important aspects of being a leader.

Delegation and motivational skills?

I think he has the potential to be a very good (maybe even great) coach but it will involve a real look at where he struggles, insecurities, and change. That is hard for anyone to do, especially when you've conditioned yourself to think a certain way.

I hope he succeeds.

Close...

Communication with the players and Motivation of the players. I think he understands his deficiencies, so there is hope.

Grant also went on to say that Pastners practices are run like well oiled machines and that it doesn't make sense why it doesn't translate to the floor.
