Why? would you want the ice man to put on weight? More than likely! Weight has nothing to do with it. You can't measure the size of the heart with size of the BODY.

I like this move. I suggested it a month ago.

First one to 70 wins tonight. I predict a LOT of scoring.

Could be a fun game.

I recall you mentioning this, but I think your preferred line up was Bond at PG. Bond at SG. Bond at SF. Bond at PF. Bond at C.

:-)

:)

Hm, perhaps we should check page 28 of the 2015 basketball offers page where we find this exchange on December 29, 2014:

EMU 79:
Not to disagree but I have Price at small forward rather than guard, he can play either position. I feel the same way about Bond he can play big guard or small forward. I do agree we need a power forward and a center. Forward is the mystery as we don't seem to have many known candidates for that position. Edwards/Dixon are the only names I've heard for center. I'd love to have Edwards come to EMU.
EMU Steve:
Not to quibble, but I'd be shocked to see Bond play SF, despite his height, unless he can be a 'point forward.' I wouldn't get locked into the 'he has SF height therefore, that is where he belongs.'

I guess EMU Steve recovered from his shock. Anyway glad to see Bond getting some time at SF. Glad to see the big three Talley, Ward and Lee in sync again.

I dare disagree. Not sure he starting at SF changes anything going forward.

Bond despite his frosh mistakes is a PG, but there is a player playing very well at that position now, I think his name is Talley. Didn't Talley play 38 (?) minutes a few games ago?

Bond will be our starting PG once Talley is finished. I haven't retracted on that nor has what Murphy done change that.

I'm shocked that you would disagree Shocked I say...

And of course, Bond had his worst game of the season at SF. He's been better at guard, but I applaud Murphy for getting him on the court at the same time as Talley and Lee. I love his versatility, but I agree with Steve...I think his long term projection is at guard, unless something drastic changes.

It's just that right now, Talley can't come off the court. Might as well get your best players on the floor together anyway you can. Despite Murphy's many rotation follies, I like this decision.

- very small crowd. the side opposite the team benches would have had 10 people were it not for a youth basketball team from Hartland sitting over there.
- great defense in the first half. glad to see we can still play like that
- the refs were a nightmare. they were equal both ways, but holy **** do they ever know how to suck the life out of a game.
- Ward picked a good game to find his shot. we looked disjointed on offense the whole game. without Ward's shooting that would have been a close game.
- Miami is in the running for worst MAC teams of the last five years
- i was curious if Murphy was letting the young guys figure out how to break the press, or if he had no choice with Talley & Lee out of the game. i'd like to think he was letting them figure it out since the game wasn't in doubt, but who knows.
- i like Nazione at the 5 over our other options. i want Ajayi to be good, but he's just not there. Nazione is at least a threat to do something offensively. i see a lot of comments about us not getting the big guys the ball enough, but none of them can do anything with it except Nazione.
- i love Timmy Bond, but he still has a ways to go. his shot isn't pretty, and he was inches away from having 8 or 9 turnovers tonight. he'll be fine, but there were some growing pains tonight. hopefully his foot/ankle is ok.

I'm pretty sure, in my 5 years on this board, this is the first time I've ever disagreed with Aaron on something basketball related. I personally think Hunter is the best center option on the team right now. A lot stronger than Nazione (which is nothing against Naz...Hunter is a very strong human being), and he's great at getting his body on guys when the ball gets inside. Nazione's quickness is much more beneficial for taking away passing lanes, but he has a hard time stopping post players once the ball is down there. We got away with it yesterday, because Miami has zero post skill, but Akron and Buffalo will eat Nazione up if we run him at the 5 in these coming games.

And CMU from last year is the worst MAC team I've ever seen. Even worse than the NIU squad that dropped 4 points in one half against us. CMU looked like a high school team last year. That makes their massive turnaround this year even more impressive, since it's largely the same roster. Although this Miami team would give them a run for their money. How on earth did we lose to them?!

Totally agree with the Timmy assessment. I won't judge his shot until that tape finally comes off, but his decision making needs to improve drastically. I love that he attacks the rim...if I could combine him and Karrington Ward, I'd have the best basketball player in the MAC. But he's been out of control the last few games. I remember Lee was like this in the 7 or 8 games he played as a true freshman before he broke his foot. Like he could just blow by everyone because he did it in high school. Lee learned, and I'm sure Bond will too. His ceiling is still very, very high.

Sam! let's never fight again. i can't live like this. i should have added a qualifier about defense against teams with legit big guys. Nazione can't guard someone the size of Ajayi or Samuels, nor was he brought in to do so. but, against a team without a quality center, i'd rather have him out there. i think the slight drop-off in defense is made up for on offense.

as for worst teams of the last five years, i was thinking that NIU team from two years ago, NIU three years ago, CMU last year, Ball State last year and Toledo 4-5 years ago. Miami is probably a small step above these schools.

RE: Game Day: Miami
I think we all agree that Ward is best at SF, but in order to get more talent on the floor he is capable of playing PF. For all of Bonds freshmaness, he is a valid contributor now. So I agree with the lineup yesterday. It's playing to the teams overall strengths.

(I also think you'll see the same situation next year. Working with the teams overall strengths, you'll see Bond at SF. So I like him getting experience there too)

I am not as convinced about Nazionne at center. But he does pleasantly surprise me with low post defense sometimes. In particular during the NIU game- although Trelove was in foul trouble. He does seem too short and not strong enough for this position. But he can also make things happen with his athleticism and moreso his feistiness. Not sure how this will pan out. Hoping the phrase, "you got Nazionned" catches on.

I'm sorry Aaron! One disagreement out of like 500 agreements is still a pretty good ratio 04-rock

Forgot about Ball State last year. They were a turnover machine. A "Futile Four" bracket of 2012 NIU, 2013 NIU, 2014 Ball State, and 2014 CMU would be epic.

99.8% (or 100%, considering .002 being 'rounding error').

Price doesn't need weight/strength. He is a perimeter player.

Bond is a finisher in the paint. Finishers need the strength (as Talley has) to finish. Lot of bumping going on in the lane.
